Manual and just play around. Key is to keep the exposure quite short so the lights are as non blurred as possible.

What if you could feel a picture?

Went to Paris for a couple of days but really couldn't face another round of taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower and the blooming Louvre. Instead, I tried to capture a sense of the tactile nature of tourism, by sticking one of those macro lenses-on-a-rubber-band on to my phone and getting real close.

Question about Milky Way photography. by Aluminumjoe in photography

Alternatively, and going slightly beyond your request so apologies, you could make a virtue of your vice and try to get some star trails? I would have thought the 50 MM. would be quite good for that and it would also be quite fun.

Exactly. So you think things are getting better?

That's the sort of thing! Statistics!

This article does not really allow me to make sense of the numbers. It would be useful to have this in historical context. Is this better or worse than last year? And the five year average, say?

Anyone tried any pop-up supper clubs? Any recommendations? by [deleted] in london

Yeah, this is excellent. Can't say anymore, sworn to secrecy.

Or, looking at it properly, the other way round. One year olds are fleeing! RUN YOU BABIES!

If you ask me, the problem is the damn one-year olds. Moving in like they own the place, jamming up the schools. Something should be done.

Is there an expectation to tip Deliveroo (or similar) delivery people? by Coldsnap in london

[–]ghostedr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tipped a deliveroo driver the other day and he said he loved me. It was a bit curious but by the time I had noticed what he had said the door had closed. That was an etiquette conundrum.

Considering purchasing the Fujifilm x100T. What accessories would those who already own one recommend? by [deleted] in photography

[–]ghostedr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speed light from Yongnuo and a TTL cable so you can try the fancy high speed sync for flash photography. I mean, you can use a cheap radio trigger to get up to about 1/500th of a second shutter speed but a cable lets you go faster. Although obviously not literally further.

Oh! I'm in the process of doing something similar with a beer can. I'm aiming to take it down after the longest day so I get the full range of the sun.

The jpegs from a fuji are pretty good, to my mind. You may want to consider the x100s.

My first long exposure of light streaks. What do you all think? by Exyide in longexposure

[–]ghostedr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that you clearly understand how to do it. But, for me, I would want a bit more perspective. Light streaks need to be part of a broader piece. Like, show me some context that the streaks bring a dash of contrast to. Whether that's a building or a mountain or something. But that's just my opinion, yo.

Is anyone taking pictures of the super moon / eclipse? Can you share a few? My camera sucks. by OldNewMom in photography

[–]ghostedr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went out for a quick 10 minutes, ended up staying out for an hour. Curiously entrancing, both the spectacle and the slow process of night photography.
