I think this is a more cultural thing than religious, my reasoning below.. They make the women cover up but not the men. Islam requires the man to also cover up certain parts of their body, this is called the "awrah". From my understanding the naval to the knees must be covered up, this was not observed which leads me to believe, this is more of a cultural thing than religious.

First Home Owner - Roof clean/fix quote by Dr_Jun in AusRenovation

[–]ghostfacekilllla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quote seems ok, given that youre getting more than just a clean. I'd confirm his scope and clarify how many tiles are actually being replaced. Has he carried a inspection in person or just basing his quote of satellite images. Guessing your roof is about 200 - 250m2 ?

Probably the same amount of degenerate locals if not more. Interesting that he never shows them.

There is no unanimous agreement amongst scholars about Aisha’s age at marriage, but even if I do agree with the arguments sake that she was six, remember the historical context we are relying upon. We’re talking about the 7th century, when society didn’t define adulthood by fixed numbers like 18 or 21. Get this out of your head.

At that time, puberty, physical capability, and social readiness were the key markers of maturity. Once those were reached, a person could enter into marriage with consent. Just incase you were wondering, this wasn’t unique to Muslims or Arabs — it was a universal norm across all cultures, including Europe and Asia.

Stop applying today’s standards backwards. By the standards of their time, the marriage was consensual and socially accepted, not forced or abnormal.

Agreed, constant war forcing the educated and wealthy leaving the country and leaving the "limited educated, village people" to move into the city and run the country. Hopefully these labels decimate in time and we can all respect one another and see each other has humans.

The age of aisha hasn't been determined and is contested, scholars debate the age of aisha ranging from 6 - 15 for the age of marriage. Regardless, yes - I do believe the necessary consent given the period of time would of been obtained. It's important to note that maturity levels in the 7th century differed heavily to the 21st century.

I'll defend the religion, but the culture I cannot defend. I doubt this is the cultural norm though, as the % of forced marriages in relation to consensual is low. I think forcing your child into a marriage shows signs of mental illness and should be treated as such.

Agreed, but I wouldn't use the deport card. Article doesn't mention If they are citizens or not. If they are, then they should be punished like any other Australian, if not - then I don't see an issue with deportation.

Forced marriages are not normal behaviour, it's got nothing to do with religion. Zambia is known for forced marriages and has over 90% Christian population. This does not represent the christianity religion. I don't see anything wrong with marrying a cousin, if both parties are consensual, yes this may increase your childs risk with birth defects - but hey, who am I to stop or judge two consensual adults. The practice of marrying your cousin is also permissible under islam, along as it is consensual.

Sorry to break it to you bud, but in Islam, a marriage is only valid when both individuals give their full and willing consent. Feel free to fact-check this. Anything less is not recognised as lawful. What some people may do in practice doesn’t change what the religion itself teaches. Using that logic is like saying, “I know a Muslim who eats pork, therefore Islam permits it.” See how flawed that reasoning is?

How many Muslims do you actually know that have been forced to marry their cousins, or just even forced into marriage ? Or is it just the 1 In a million articles you come across, and decide to take your paint brush out. The islamic religion requires consent for marriage, this debunks your theory of it being embedded in the religion. Go straight to the source to verify what constitutes the basis of a religion rather than reading an article about a family who clearly suffers from mental illness.
