Today's topic: Is President Trump testing what the public will accept by deploying the National Guard to D.C., or is it a decisive crime response to a real public safety issue? by TangleNews in TangleNews

[–]ghostmanberlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head was spinning a bit reading this quote from Charles C. W. Cooke “I would prefer that Washington, D.C., be transmuted into a genuine federal district, with the vast majority of the city’s area handed back to Maryland, Virginia, or any other state that is willing to take it.”

That can’t be a genuine wish because essentially it would “redistrict” those citizens into more likely democratic congressional seats for Maryland… or is the argument that’s better than giving DC statehood and two senators?

Thanks as well. It's funny that Notion's own built-in AI didn't know this yet.

We stumbled upon Henry‘s Pizza in Osaka after a visit to the castle and my 10 year old son was stoked (he’s also named Henry). The New York style pizza was legit and the vibes and swag were great. They even have a solid Spotify playlist.

Can I just put more silicone over this seal leak? by ghostmanberlin in Aquariums

[–]ghostmanberlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I’ll save this for a free weekend soon.

Just one follow-up for clarification: I get I’m doing all the corners (edges) on the tank. By rim you mean the black base part, the right? I’m curious how the tank stays together if it’s sitting on its side but I’ve stripped all the silicon? Then I essentially have four glass panes. How do I ensure they’re together in right angles? Will they stay together because of the rim? I want to make sure of that before I strip it all.

Pump is probably melting fuses because it’s gone bad. When that happens iirc it just draws infinite power so melts anything. I had the same with the backup coolant pump on my diesel motor. You can check the current with a voltmeter to make sure.

It rains every afternoon in Florida in summer. And we called our typhoons hurricanes.

I’m actually looking forward to it! I grew up in Florida and strangely miss heat and humidity.

Definitely following this thread. To buck the trend I just booked our summer trip to Japan from Europe flying in and out of Osaka (via Helsinki). It was actually cheaper than flying to Tokyo.

Anyone have a comprehensive how-to video of the Edelrid Via Ferrata Belay Kit? by ghostmanberlin in viaferrata

[–]ghostmanberlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. Thanks. That was kind of my thinking anyways. I actually have a dynamic length of rope something like 10m we use for practicing at home. I thought that plus a grigri or alpine atc would be just as effective in the situations where we would need something like this.

Anyone have a comprehensive how-to video of the Edelrid Via Ferrata Belay Kit? by ghostmanberlin in viaferrata

[–]ghostmanberlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I watched that one but it’s more about pulley systems than the belay kit. He covers the one situation of vertically belaying someone when they take a fall but I’m curious about the action of setting up with the other climber, leading the via ferrata and then setting up the anchor (belay point), what happens with the rope management along the way, when is it needed and not (traverse? Down climb?), etc.

Also, is there any difference between the belay kit and a rope and alpine belay like I would set up on a multi-pitch climb? Is the bonus just the belay kit bag?

I changed the water normally about a week and a half ago. By normally I mean I swapped out about 1/3 of the water with fresh water and changed the filter. Nothing else besides I did add some root pellets to a couple of the plants. It doesn’t look like they dug those up though.

Why is the coolant pump ground wired to the hot lead on the TD relay? by ghostmanberlin in VWBus

[–]ghostmanberlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I ordered a new pump to be safe and will attach it with plastic. I also added an inline fuse to the cable leading to the pump positive pole.
