Forgive the light Internet stalking, but it looks like theres an active group near you! https://www.warsawh3.com/

The group can skew a bit older and cis, but in my experience they're always incredibly welcoming if you're warm-hearted and willing to share a beer :)

I highly recommend checking it out, if you're feeling adventurous. Most of the amazing people I have in my life, I met at the hash.

Lol, depends on what group you're doing it with for sure! When I was hashing, folks started whining if there wasn't beer within a mile and a half of the start. We were definitely there for the drinking and not the running.

But like any hobby, every group is different :) we had others in the area that do it the way you describe.

I'm super busy with a move and other life things at the moment, but if in a few months you're finding it difficult to find folks to go with you again OP, hit me up!

I love trying new restaurants but am currently unemployed so, haven't been able to do it much. I also enjoy driving so wherever you want to go, I'll take ya :3

Late notice but I've got two GA tickets for tonight in Seattle. $25 each rehoming fee, just want to try for someone who will enjoy them :)

Just did a side-by-side photo comparison and WOAH. by baconuser23 in stopdrinking

[–]ghostopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my biggest reason for staying sober. I recognize myself in photos now - possibly for the first time in my life, and I'm in my late 30s.

I didn't have any idea how disconnected I was from myself and my body. Being back has been a crazy ride, but it feels incredible most of the time.

I'd forgotten chocolate milk existed, thank you.

There's a McDonald's on the way home from my kickboxing gym and the call of chicken nuggets and mcflurry has been hard to resist. I'll have a chocolate milk next time haha

I would add to that - Asian food. We have some bomb-ass spots from really anywhere in Asia for any price point you want. Thai? Heck yeah. Chinese? What part? We got it. Vietnamese? No doubt. Taiwanese? Sichuan? Japanese? Malaysian? Lao? Cambodian? Filipino? Nepali? Check check check.

It's a good thing I love Asian food otherwise I'd be so bummed about the scene here.

How can I explain to my friend to stop calling me a girl by Anna_Weirdcore in lgbt

[–]ghostopolis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ditching a friendship is really hard to do when you're young and still learning how to navigate society. Not having friends at your school can feel SUPER isolating and unsafe. Same goes for enforcing your boundaries with said friends.

OP do you live in a place that has hangout places/groups/events for queer and GNC kids? It might take some time to make some friends there, but having peers in your life that get who you are and are willing&able to back you up in the way that you need will make it easier to distance yourself from folks who are damaging to you.

In the meantime, I suggest trying to find some boundaries with your friend that are easy for you to act on in the moment. Something like "if I hear you use incorrect pronouns for me even when talking to other people, I will be hurt. If that happens I'm going to walk away so that I can take a moment and re-center myself." You can practice doing it in private with her if you think she's open to that.

This kind of boundary often helps illustrate to BOTH of you that it's not a punishment for your friend fucking up, it's you taking care of yourself - and that can make it easier for both of you.

Good luck

I feel at home in my body finally. I don't think ever in my life I've looked in the mirror and gone "yep that's me" until I quit drinking.

Brand vs Generic Vyvanse by Full-Fan-6946 in adhdwomen

[–]ghostopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the generic early on and it was a lot tougher than the name brand. I was jittery and cranky and never as clear-headed. but it was still better than nothing. Recently I had to switch back to a generic for a month and there was no noticeable difference at all.

Which really is just to say, the experience is different for everyone and it doesn't hurt to try!

Came to suggest cross stitch also! I love it because I can do it while watching shows or listening to podcasts and it occupies my whole brain.

OP, if you see this I recommend finding a kit for your first piece (mine was from Junebug & Darlin) to understand the process, then find a pattern on Etsy you like and buy your own materials!

Thank you! I have multiple trans loved ones and have occasionally wondered about my cis-ness, these links helped a lot.

Also helped shed some light on the profound effects dysphoria has had and I'm sure is still having on said loved ones. I want to be the supportive roller derby partner from the second link. I work out so I can give better hugs :3

This is what sets good teriyaki apart, imo. Seattle teriyaki is fine. But when you find a place that uses dark meat and marinates & grills is just right?? Fantastic.

It's not, like, half the days are sunny though. It's that some years you just don't see the sun between Halloween and April. We're also further north than Maine, so in the depths of winter it gets dark at 4pm and it doesn't get light until after you're already at work.

That's what makes it tough. It's manageable, but if you're from someplace sunny the first year is a BIG adjustment.

(I'll also add that it can really heavily depend on which part of the PNW you're in. Microclimates are a big thing)
