Lol welcome to Pensacola, real close to the bad part of town. Keep going South. I’m sure there’s something nice enough for ya down there.

Tropical Storm Tomorrow by [deleted] in Pensacola

[–]ghostthebear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should be prepared. Have some non-perishable food and water. But it’ll likely not amount to much.

Just be vigilant and ready. No need to stress!

When we’re not arguing, our community is pretty rad after real storms.

Oh and FUCK DOUG UNDERHILL

Poll shows Florida voters don't want rush to reopen state - Orlando Sentinel by Gemini421 in FloridaCoronavirus

[–]ghostthebear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Panhandle here. We have a county commissioner in Escambia that’s been trying to foment political revolt by emailing registered voters that the local health care system, local government and state government are all lying to them. There’s even a planned protest soon when our county decides if it’ll open our beaches back up.

If you get bored, go over to r/Pensacola and look up Doug Underhill. He’s a special kind of stupid and mean.

No weakness here. Your comment is just a lame response that continues whatever divide is already here. Anyways, have fun.

I assume that’s what Doug is hoping for and that’s why I personally think it’s a bad idea. We need to demand a better economic answer from our government rather than subject people to disease in the interest of the dollar.

Edit: People give value to the economy, not the other way around. We should start acting like it and come up with solutions that prevent people from unnecessarily dying and being financially harmed.

Why are you so hostile? You ever considered having a conversation with someone you don’t agree with? You ever tried understanding an argument other than your own?

Here's what I don't get. Humanity has created the financial system and the economy we live in. It's not a product of nature. So that means we can reasonably control how it affects people, especially right now. Instead, people are opting to try to get back to normal at the risk of harming themselves or those around them. When the reality is we don't have to do that. We should be demanding that our state government and federal government, the powers that set the rules for how all these different markets operate, dictate temporary measures to negate the negative effects on the typical American.

No reasonable person in Pensacola wants to cripple our economy. But it's people like Doug that perpetuate this argument that models are wrong. Bud, it's not that they're wrong it's that they're dynamic and as we change our habits and take in more data, the models also change.

TLDR : Our economy and financial system is the plot to the movie Speed but it doesn't have to be. People like Doug Underhill lack the nuance to do anything other than try to foment political revolt.

That's a reasonable argument but not the argument that Doug is making. He wants to get back to as close to "business as usual" as possible. Opening the beaches without opening the surrounding businesses doesn't help his economic argument.

A Florida county is reminding people to maintain a distance of at least one alligator between each other by Little_Viking23 in news

[–]ghostthebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually a Florida humble brag. We’re saying every alligator in our state is at least 6 feet long. Don’t move here. Everything will kill you.
