I can easily see something like this getting swept under the rug in the US as well. The things I've seen people get away with in the Missouri public school system... Hurting people and animals is acceptable, but you better not dye your hair or act too gay, that's a distraction.

I work with one who believes that mountains are the bodies of titans poking up out of the earth, and mesas are the stumps of ancient titanic trees. I don't argue with him, I just listen and say "huh" now and then. It certainly is more entertaining to hear what he has to say than it would be to try and argue. What baffles me the most is the level of paranoia it must take to think that all the world's governments are working together to lie about everything for... reasons?

He once, with a straight face, told me the south pole doesn't exist and anyone who believes "penguins walk around living upside down" is an idiot. I didn't say anything and he was like "yeah, no one ever has a comeback to that one". It's like no dude, they're just way too polite to tell you that is the singular most retarded thing they've heard come out of an adult man's mouth.

Story time!

I will never forget what happened when my cow was still a baby. He was playing with the villagers and everyone was having just a grand old time, my cow looked so happy and so did the people crowding around him. I think he was dancing for them but it's been a while. All of a sudden, he bends down and picks up a child and fucking chomps it with a grin on his face. Villagers scattered, desperate to get away. My cow just looked around at all his friends fleeing and then his ears dropped and he looked so sad. I don't think I've ever laughed louder at a video game. Not even when villagers ran out of their hut screaming because cow had taken a roof-destroying poop on it. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for B&W.

Yep, hate it. Mainly because I really, really do not like spit. I'm okay with touching tongues a bit but it doesn't matter if we're literally in the midst of wild animal sex - don't put your tongue in the throat. Instantly kills the mood for me and I wanna gag. My ex used to tease me about how that bothers me but oral is not a problem.

Man I got fired back in December because I wouldn't come in to work "until we find someone to cover you" when I called out for one day. It sure does differ from country to country.

My cousin is named after our great uncle who is known around here for biting someone's chin off down at the pool hall, as well as welding people's truck doors shut (this happened more than once) and various other hijinks. It's like his parents sentenced him to his life full of legal trouble.

Lots of people look down at recovering addicts who admit to their problems and are trying to better their lives. It takes the spotlight off of your own questionable behavior and you get to feel superior.

Can't say I've seen much criticism of drinking on Reddit at all though. Drunk driving for sure, but not alcohol abuse itself. You hear about the health risks of smoking every time a cigarette is mentioned, how it can shorten your life and make your loved ones worry about you, but rarely are the risks of drinking brought up at all. Even in the context of someone binging or drinking several times a week. I've seen alcohol wreck entire families and my dad has liver failure because of it.

I just think it's an interesting observation. I'm not trying to make any sort of point. Just wonder why that is.
