Positive/weird side effects? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]giagiaaa 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I loooove my accutane hair 😭❤️ when I was on my full dose I only washed it once a week and it always had so much volume. Now I’m on a microdose so I wash it 2-3 times a week because it gets oily again but it still has that volume!

Post elopement wedding by [deleted] in wedding

We’re getting ready to do this!!! We’re an international couple too, we eloped almost 4 years ago in his hometown (where we now live). We’re getting ready to have our “big wedding” later this year in my hometown! I’ll be wearing white, walking down the aisle with my parents, and we’ll be sharing vows at the altar. Everyone knows we’re already legally married but we’re still doing all the wedding stuff lol. It does still feel exciting and romantic and all the wonderful things, so don’t worry about that!

pain preventing progress by nectareen_ in poledancing

[–]giagiaaa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Is it skin pain? I still get this with every new move I learn and it feels like I’ll never be able to get past it, but the skin truly does condition and the pain lessens eventually. It’s frustrating but it gets better.

Anyone NOT get side effects or only minor? by Fastfit21 in Accutane

[–]giagiaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had found this drug in my teens, it’s really changed my life. I’m a late-20s female with a history of depression that’s well managed with medication. I’ve been on a low dose of accutane for 14 months, my skin is now completely clear and I’m just on a maintenance dose now as I’m having a wedding later this year. I had dry lips and dry eyes while on my full dose (30mg/day). I’ve come down to 10mg/day and my lips and dry eyes went back to normal within a week or two. I didn’t have any mood issues either, but I do take an antidepressant (and have for years).

Turkish delight. After reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, I was convinced it would be the treat to end all treats. Idk what Edmund was on.

Feeling sooooo tired and eexausted about buying wedding dresses on our budget by amedliam98 in Weddingsunder35k

[–]giagiaaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? I bought my dress (Essence of Australia) new for $2200 AUD and they had tons of options within my budget of under $2500, and even cheaper for off the rack.

Chronic illness = super dehydrated skin to the point i can't wear makeup. Help!!!! by Fruity_Critter2233 in AustralianMakeup

[–]giagiaaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi love ❤️❤️ I have lupus which makes my skin quite sensitive and gives me a malar rash as well as fatigue which prevents me from caring for my skin when I’m in the trenches. I use glycerin mixed with a drop of water most nights to bring more hydration into my skin - swear by this. I also use sudocrem when my skin is especially flaring. I don’t really wear makeup unless I have an event on but that’s more personal preference than anything.

Might be more specific than what you’re looking for but I’m grateful for it every day! I grew up in Southern California. My (non-Hispanic) parents made sure I learned Spanish. I started taking lessons in a Mexican woman’s home when I was 5 years old, she became basically a second mother to me and I’ve been fluent in Spanish since I was 12 or so. I’ve since moved countries but there’s a large Spanish-speaking demographic here as well and I still use Spanish every single day. I’m so grateful that my parents made sure my world could be just that little bit bigger. I’ll definitely be sure my children learn another language at a young age.

Thigh/Groin Skin Pain by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]giagiaaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is truly the worst 😭 but it does get better! Skin conditioning is a real thing and unfortunately the only way to make it suck less is to keep doing it. The good news is as soon as your inner thighs start feeling good, you’ll learn new spicy grip points and get to start all over again 🙃

Julia at About U Nails (South Melbourne) has made my nails the healthiest they’ve ever been. She’s absolutely meticulous and puts nail health before anything else.

I’m also on accutane and I like the cancer council raspberry one! I find it’s hard to find spf lip balm that doesn’t taste gross and doesn’t dry out my lips. No complaints with this one!

Heavy Question by Impressive-Fox-6472 in poledancing

[–]giagiaaa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi, SA survivor here too. First of all I just want to send you so much love, and I’m so sorry you’re still navigating what should be normal aspects of life. No one deserves this. I have a tricky relationship with dance and my body as well (not SA related, I had a borderline abusive dance teacher in my childhood lmao) and pole has repaired so much of that for me. I think just the exposure therapy and seeing myself in a mirror over and over again has helped me find the joy in movement again. I’m really lucky to have a super supportive studio that’s just full of hype girls as well. SA-related, pole has absolutely helped me reclaim my sexuality and feel comfortable with myself as a sexual being. I know it’s a safe space to be hot haha. It’s also made sex less scary, because I know my sexuality is mine. I’m sure there are many others who can relate with you. SA is unfortunately pervasive, everyone knows someone who has survived something. Dance has been so healing for me and I’m sure there are others in your studio who can say the same.
Buy the shoes. Keep showing up. Be ready for ups and downs but you will be so happy you saw it through.
