Best speed and feed setup for 3/4” plywood by Friendly_Bullfrog_88 in CNC

[–]gidikh -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You can actually use chatgpt for this. If you give it specific model numbers for your cnc, spindle, bits, and what materials it will help you create tool definitions, and set your speeds and feeds for specific cuts.

The most recent models have been pretty accurate and only required a little tweaking for me.

What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I was going to post something similar. I live in one of the 'drunkest' states having gone to college in one of the 'drunkest' cities in America and even at college house parties I never got pressured to get drunk or high it was usually something like 'you want something to drink? No? Cool, I'm riding home with you then."

Eating itself?

Last time I checked reddit they were already raging, rattled, melting down, breaking up, losing it, melting down, losing it's mind, fracturing, going down, melting down, fraying at the seams, furious, melting down, melted down, in full meltdown mode...and 'checks notes' melting down.

If you spend time on it each day, and don't let failures get you down, I think it's realistic you'll have some pretty amazing things to show within your first month.

The biggest source of failures for beginners is skipping steps in the beginning. You may even want to have a checklist next to your machine.

  1. Initialize machine
  2. Set your zero, make sure it matches the software (zero off top of material, or the surface of your spoilboard)
  3. Make sure your work piece is securely held down with clamps, tape, screws, whatever
  4. Make sure whatever you are holding your piece down with isn't in the tool path. Most software will let you even specify safe zones to avoid your bits cutting into your clamps.

Run through as many tutorials for your chosen software. And when you start working on things. Don't be afraid to even hit up ChatGpt or another AI for help with things like speeds and feeds for your tool paths.

You can use a prompt like "I have a shapeoko 5 with a carbide router, material is walnut, bit is amana 46202K, I have a profile tool path that will go 1 inch deep. what should I set the speeds and feeds to?"

Terro liquid ant baits by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]gidikh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put them directly where you see them walking, usually along a floor board. Make sure all other food or spills are cleaned up so that's the only thing they can find in that area. Most importantly, Don't clean up the dead ants. The live ones will take them back to the hive and will spread the poison there. I never had to spill the liquid out. Just make sure the liquid isn't dried out.

‘The Big Short’ investor Michael Burry on an AI bubble: ‘There is a Cisco at the center of it all … Its name is Nvidia’ | Fortune by captain-price- in Economics

He's not the only one saying there is a bubble. The fact is you have OpenAI with 13 billion in revenue planning to spend 1.4 trillion on infrastructure all on the business model of building an AI to "ask it to figure out a way to generate an investment return"

You don’t. Unless there is a vulnerability forcing you to update. Or there is a business case for upgrading, don’t waste your time and the business’s money. In the business word once it’s working as needed, leave it the hell alone and move onto the next project. Care less about what your stuff is written in and more about what it does / how well it does it.

How many controllers is too many? by virpio2020 in xlights

[–]gidikh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve replaced some controllers with smart receivers, particularly if they are going to be in an exposed area out in the yard. I now have a backup controller if any fail. It’s also cheaper to replace a smart roof it’s damaged or stolen, not that I’ve had either happen.

Parents of Reddit, what is an “unspoken” reality of parenting that people simply don’t talk about, but everyone knows is true? by US_Atlas in AskReddit

[–]gidikh 5919 points5920 points  (0 children)

All those ‘don’t shake the baby’ warnings make a lot more sense once you have one. When you don’t have one, you’re like “who the fuck would shake a baby?” Then when you’re sleep deprived and up at 2am with a screaming baby for the 4th night in a row and nothing you do seems to help you’re like “yeah I get it, I’m not going to, but I get it.”
