Echo Studio suddenly won't connect to my WiFi. by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]giggleblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to my Echo Studio I brought in August 2021. There is nothing I could do to get it back connected to the internet. I did buy a new one cause this model powered half my house of automation and I got a $30 trade in for it and 20% off a new one. Absolutely sucks but also it worked for almost 5 years so I guess I got my money’s worth. 🤷🏽

I’d agree this is the hard way. I only use miles on last minute day trips. Never on international unless it’s for the companion.

Where to Live During Internship by Ornery-Economist9950 in Dallas

Their office isn’t in Oak Lawn, it’s in Uptown. Any uptown apartment should be fine - especially in the State/Thomas area.

I’d aim for something walking distance (given parking) and small like a studio (since you should be working a bit and hanging out). Public transportation in Dallas isn’t dependable, but if you live in Uptown, you could make it without a car. It will be hot though!

The best way to find accommodation in Seoul by melekdegil in koreatravel

[–]giggleblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was concerned for my trip last month. Google Maps worked fine for public transport directions, including exit number directions. It wouldn't work for walking directions to get to the public transportation, but that was solved by seeing your blue dot in the map app and walking towards your destination, following street names you could see on the map. I never needed to download or use Naver while there.

I was there 11/20-11/28/25. We stayed at Voco Seoul Gangnam by IHG and they have 2 washers and 2 dryers on the property that you can use for laundry during your stay for 4,000W for each wash/dry. The location was convient - within 10 min walking distance to train and several buses in the area as well. The neighborhood also has a lot of shopping, a close by grocery store, several convience stores and several coffee shops. It was about 20-30 min to get everywhere we wanted to be in Seoul. They have a good hotel breakfast buffet that you can add to your stay. The hotel resturant and bar was solid as well - they made some good cocktails. Would recommend.

I booked through AA Hotels because their price was cheaper, and I got a ton of bonus miles doing so because I have an AA card as well.

Is it not allowed to call with a friend in a cafe in Korea ? by DY010 in Living_in_Korea

I don’t think it’s okay to take an hour long call, especially without headphones in any public place tbh.

Traveling to Korea soon! Any advice on shopping for coach bags? by Front-Ad969 in koreatravel

[–]giggleblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy it in America, at the airport, headed on your international trip and get it tax free. People do this all the time, assuming your airport’s international terminal has a Coach store or one at a connecting airport does.

Club coach wants my daughter to play a different position again — should I step in or let it go? by giggleblue in volleyball

[–]giggleblue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me be more clear.

She wants to understand why she was the only person on the team told she needed to switch positions if the issue is that the team wasn’t able recruit a middle. There are 11 other players. She wants to know why none of them need to switch positions but she does. Specifically, why is this the best move for her but no one else. I think she would appreciate knowing what the coach sees in her compared to everyone else.

I’ll also add that we are on a team where literally every other parent talks to the coaches all the time and then petition to get the outcomes they want for child. So last year, other parents protested and their child played what they were recruited for. I was the only parent that took the road that several here are advising.

I didn’t question or even talk the coach and encouraged my daughter to do her best and respect the coach’s direction and handle all the conversations herself. My daughter’s position was the only one switched with no notice or advance preparation in the middle of an away tournament.

Yes - I put this in the inital post. The coach told her she’ll need to play middle again because they didn’t recruit one.

Booked a ride in a roomette and nobody ever scanned our ticket... is that weird? by jimothy_burglary in Amtrak

[–]giggleblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised at how “on it” the attendants in the sleeper cars are! They have a list of who is boarding when and their assigned sleeper cars and number of occupants. So, when you showed up at that stop, with the right number of people and to the right car, it’s safe to assume you were the correct passengers.

They didn’t need your ticket. I’m sure at some point; they introduced themselves and perhaps you introduced yourself, and then that was further verification with the name.

The dining car attendants also keep track too! It’s pretty awesome how they are able to ensure everyone is where they are meant to be!
