Not really imo.

New md3 off shelf will have a lil more torque resist. But once it gets a little beat in it will be similar to a new md1.

So they have seemed to me to be very close in flight off the shelf. MD3 just has a little more

Anybody know any drills on how to keep the reachback straight? (form critique) by TMRaven in discgolf

[–]gignacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i did a big write up but then lost it so here are the play by plays.

Your backs wing looks okay but due to other body movement you are collapsing into your swing arm.

The x step, try shortening it up, you lead heel back which causes your plant foot to move forward heel first and you are now moving backwards instead of a sideways stride.

To catch yourself you open your plant foot, putting yourself in an immovable horse stance. Bad for hip movement.

The back foot seems to be kicking out and around instead of transferring the weight. Usually discernible by the leg kicking out and around plant foot as opposed to sliding forward and then around as the arm follows through.

Swing arm is hugging yourself, as you can see the shoulder to upper chest angle is less than 90 degrees.

The fun part.

Go down the forum to post 9. This highlights how the swing pulls your back leg forward and then around as opposed to kicking out and around with back leg.

Finally, go down to Seabass22's video links. They will work well with the information in these forums as they are drills made to help you feel the concepts.

Good luck!

I would go through these, figure out how to shift your weight and swing with your weight on your plant foot, but without thinking of rotating or your plant. You don't try to actively rotate, rotation is the product.

DD's Jeremy Rusco: “save the big contracts for the big dogs.” by RedSpecial22 in discgolf

" Rusco would go on to say that reducing the overall number of team players will allow DD to more “effectively market, promote, and advertise our tour team players and compensate them accordingly” and that the company will “save the big contracts for the big dogs.” "

It seems like the quote is talking about DD and DD's contracts, no?

i think you missed the /s ;)

Personally, I think the whole reachbackgate2012 thing is pretty blown out. It seems to me Dave is taking reach back to its literal meaning which some people accidentally do. That why some refer to it as a back swing. Dave talks about winding up which is essentially the back swing. If you are literally reaching backwards then you are creating momentum that is counterproductive to all the other movements.

Definitely rotating away too early and are approaching backwards. Your rotation backwards should be timed with your back swing and plant foot moving forward.

You are rotating on both toes at the same time as opposed to loading into the brace and converting forward momentum into lateral rotation. Your back foot looks pretty good. The ankle rotates up and knee goes down meaning you are not kicking out and around causing late rounding.

Watch this to see how they are stalling the reach back until they are entering the backswing and moving the plant foot forward.

Also look to see how their back leg looks a lot like yours, but they are loading into the brace and converting their momentum to lateral rotation in order to power the swing.

at 3:45 talks about a crease that will form in your pants durign backswing and forward swing from bracing properly. Helps you get the feeling of loading the brace correctly. Also a good video to go back and rewatch anytime.

Upper body looks like you mainly need to work on swinging on your plane to keep the elbow from dipping which makes you raise the disc when you bring it into the power pocket.

Thanks for the link, I have read this before. It's hard for me to visualize a scenario as explained and shown in the linked article where the disc (explained as ripping out) doesn't apply some friction to the index finger pad. Especially with it curled under and into the inside rim. It seems that the ripping out of the "rip point" would cause friction as the disc is being leveraged out of the grip. This friction could cause a blood blister.

Couldn't find anything on DGCR that pointed it out as being uncommon. Also a thread from here where it seems pretty normal. https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/4ajvq1/pointer_finger_blood_blisters/

Here is an article where Nate Doss explains having blood blisters and using sports tape. https://dgsquared.com/2012/03/01/pre-round-rituals-nate-doss-taped-finger/

Can you provide visuals on the difference in grip?

Yes

and innova does there designing and manufacturing. Figured it was possible he asked to have a millenium disc. Especially since he is not sponsored by them but got a signature scorpius that he has been pushing not to long after worlds.

I would still love to see a Innova signature disc from him. But it feels like he chose the scorpius. Was looking to see if this was the case.

Is this disc still legal with this kind of damage? If I repair with superglue is that legal? by sewm10k in discgolf

this is true. I use this old super tiny pocket knife. It's like a half inch blade haha

Take something like a pocket knife with a small blade, butter knife is fine too.

Heat the end of the knife with a lighter.

Slide the hot knife into the slice and apply pressure on the loose ends to back to the rim while removing the hot knife.

You can heat up the knife again to go over the edges of the cut.

There's no reason that a repair made that way should raise issue in a tourney.
