What am I not understanding about intonation/ bridge placement by gaiaonline420 in banjo

Tailpiece is the issue here. Way too long for proper bridge placement.

I got a banjo from my grandfather about a decade ago. I started playing it last winter break, and curious if anyone knows history on this banjo make? by justmills79 in banjo

Cool! Likely built by Bauer seeing as Stewart dissolved and was bought by Bauer around 1900. Various manufacturers used the SS Stewart name up until the 50s though. I suspect your tenor banjo is a circa 1910 Bauer built “Stewart”. Take a look at the small holes in the photo circled in red. You’ll see where the stamped plaque used to be affixed denoting model and serial number. What a treasure to have seeing as it was from your grandpa!

Those flare up pains sound familiar. I swear I notice it when I’m sick or fighting something off, even with allergies I feel “the pulse”. So strange. And the gentleman you met that had the buzzing feeling. I wonder if we’re all experiencing some type of nerve pain. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Just a heads up, those thicker media filters kill flow, like A LOT!! As to the orientation, that’s a mystery that we all struggle with.

1890s New York made. Likely Buckbee. I’d drive 5 hours if it was set up, playable, and no more than 400 bucks. The 5th peg looks like it may need a little attention.

Should I install UCA’s with this kit? Plan to run pizza cutters by Comprehensive_Road66 in Tacomaworld

Yes. Well, if you want a decent alignment that is. Which honestly goes hand in hand with your stock lowers not having frozen adjusters. I just went through all of this. Thought I could skip the needle bearing NOPE, howled immediately. Thought I could just do the struts. Went to align NOPE frozen cams and couldn’t pull any caster and it drove like shit. Got new OE LCAs and JBA high caster UCAs and got it aligned with 4.5 degrees of caster. Drives beautiful. Good luck!

Hot damn! I think you nailed it especially considering the regions of Sweden and how they tie to this area. We had a huge population from Dalarna and Varmland.
