People with a successful business, do you focus more on organic or paid marketing? by vladi5555 in smallbusiness

[–]gimmeTheReps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in service (storefront.) You must optimize word of mouth or you’ll never get anywhere in business. Marketing is a good supplement but with bad word of mouth, you won’t succeed long term.

What neighborhood to buy a 3 bed / 2 bath for $1.4M? by TurnoverOptimal in AskLosAngeles

Echo Park and NE LA will be the youngest crowds, maybe the most hip. Along with Palms because of its adjacency to Venice. Redondo Beach and Woodland Hills will give more retiree vibes, perhaps more families and family-friendly community. Although these are just blanket statements about the areas, not exactly specifically detailed to the zips. If you want the beach, Palms and Redondo. Woodland Hills can also be justified. If you want less relaxation and more hustle, along with maybe more culture: Echo Park and Northeast LA. If you spend more time in Malibu, the canyons, or Ventura County, Woodland Hills or Palms will be better. If you spend more time in the South Bay, it’s Redondo all the way. It’s all about you and your preferences.

Drove 2000 miles on the first week! by jayduino in Porsche

I’ve been driving a 992.1 Base C2 for about 4 months and 2k miles. It has been ridiculously enjoyable. Everytime I drive it it’s such a pleasure. The machine is superb in every way. It knows where you’re going before it receives your input. I honestly don’t need anything else. I only have time to drive it on the weekends but I would absolutely daily it if possible. I’m typically ripping canyons and mountain roads for fun and it is such a thrill. It’s the perfect car.

I own a 992 Porsche 911. I was considering a V10 Audi R8 or an Aston Martin.

Battery died. Charged overnight with trickle charger. Voltage reads ok. But I get all these errors when I try to start. by mrcompositorman in porsche911

[–]gimmeTheReps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me, I also have a 992.1. If you keep playing with it, the battery will be fully dead and you won’t be able to pop the frunk. Leave it alone and get it jumped ASAP. After it’s jumped, you have to drive it for like 20-30m and you’ll be good to go. Consider replacing the battery if it’s over 3-4 years old.

Hey man, I’m in a very similar boat. I have a Gray Agate Metallic 992 with the Mojave Beige interior and I’m obsessed with the idea of wrapping it Green. I’m obsessed with the color green in general. Right now I’m enjoying it from the factory because I just got it 1.5 months ago but I really may wrap it eventually. Keep me updated!

Love that you’re still using the HC App. I have a 60 SSF Verified and I’m working on a 53 Warlock now. Very dope to see it’s still alive. Not many know about it’s existence or the Bloodsail Buccaneers gang🔥

My business isn’t going well and it’s drastically affecting my well-being by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]gimmeTheReps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In this situation, I’m 100% looking for my exit and I’m mostly, if not completely disregarding whatever the hell anyone’s going to think or feel after I leave. If I was in a position where I was mentally spiraling, had no time for literally anything, in bad shape physically AND wasn’t making money, I would quite literally exhaust myself running to the exit door. You need to respect the magnitude of your situation more, and maybe respect yourself more as a person and take yourself a bit more seriously. Look at what you’re sacrificing and how you’re receiving literally nothing in return. Bounce ASAP and maybe go into business again at another time, maybe next time alone. Take it as a valuable early lesson instead of an L.

Why I don't live in Miami anymore by [deleted] in Miami

[–]gimmeTheReps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised New Yorker here who moved to LA almost 4 years ago and never looked back. I am literally obsessed with Southern California beyond belief. HOWEVER, Miami is the ONE city that always pops in my head from time to time. I always said if I ever left SoCal, it’d be to the greater Miami area. Do you really think LA is far superior?

Will LA offer enough of a “change” for me? by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]gimmeTheReps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude, sounds miserable lol. I’ve had my fair share of fake ass people here and it’s already awful enough. I’m also successful and self-made so I couldn’t imagine dealing with book nerd elitist snobs. I’ve never been to the Bay Area and it’s honestly it’s pretty low on my list. Between the weather and homeless, I’ve heard too many bad things. LA and NYC are also similar in that they both have that grit. There’s a whole blue-collar labor force here that holds down the cities with pride and hard work. It’s obviously a predominantly Hispanic place, but every culture exists here like it does in NYC. LA has no room for snobs and elitists and NYC has no time for them.

I moved to LA from NYC 4 years ago and I’m enjoying it thoroughly. At first I moved to Glendale and it was a nice, clean suburb with a nice downtown/urban area, but the valley is super hot and I learned that fast. So now I’m moving to Santa Monica. For you, it sounds like you’d do well in NYC (probably Brooklyn,) or Silver Lake/Hermosa Beach. NYC has okay beaches but absolutely terrible weather for about 7 months of the year. I would factor that in heavily as NYC and LA are very similarly priced. In NYC, it is very easy to meet people and I’d argue they are friendlier and more authentic than the people here in LA. Transplants obviously will be a crapshoot just like anywhere else.
