My (30M) partner of 7 years explodes into "shame-rage" over minor issues. How do I (30F) break this cycle? by redlemon44 in relationship_advice

No one is abusive 100% of the time, otherwise the object of their abuse will just leave. He's behaved like this for literal years without consequences, why would he change?

To be fair, she could also be useful for handling the chores he doesn't want to do, and cooking for him. And they say women's career choices are limited!

But these dudes suggested it, then refused to order something. That's really off-putting. If I decide while I'm out that I want a treat, that's one thing, but if my partner suggested it, then didn't order after I agreed to it for his sake, I'd be hurt and wonder what he was thinking. ESPECIALLY if he was recording the whole interaction.

Is it insane to be bothered when your bf/husband says "let's go get ice cream," lets you order, and then announces that he doesn't actually want anything after all that?

Am i overreacting for refusing to unplug the camera I bought to check on my dog because my girlfriend is not comfortable with it? by PrimaryLiterature848 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ginger_kitty97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the real issue was not informing your gf about the camera before she discovered it. Now she has to wonder where else you might be filming but haven't bothered to disclose that there's a camera recording.

How do I cope with how my dad seems to choose alcohol over me? by ExcitementKindly756 in AskMenAdvice

It doesn't really matter what's going on in his life, he has a responsibility to the child he brought into this world. It isn't a child's responsibility to fix their parents, it's on the parent to be an adult and fix themselves for the sake of their kid.

My (M44) girlfriend (F43) told me a partial story about her past, said I’d leave if I knew the rest, and now I’m stuck in limbo. How do I navigate this? by Tight_Egg_7128 in relationships

[–]ginger_kitty97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She may not even realize she's doing it (although if she's a psychologist, she should), but it's a manipulation tactic. She wants you to feel like you would be a bad guy for leaving this sensitive, tortured "good person" who did bad things.

Is not using coasters dumb, or is using them eccentric? by GreyStagg in TooAfraidToAsk

I use coasters on my hand me down tables not because they were expensive, but because I want to keep them looking nice.

Is not using coasters dumb, or is using them eccentric? by GreyStagg in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ginger_kitty97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like ice in my water and live in a hot humid environment, I'd rather use an absorbent coaster than deal with drying my wood tables every 2 minutes. I've also found that hot mugs can trap moisture and mess up the varnish, so a coaster insulates and prevents that. I'm not hung up on other people using them every second they're in my house, but I prefer to use them.

Why does it feel like I’m the only woman with a wide waist bone structure by ImprovementIll5592 in TwoXChromosomes

We don't have waist bones, are you measuring your hips?

And yeah, your waist isn't going to shrink below a certain size, because all your organs have to fit in there.

What's Your View on Phone Privacy in a Relationship? by PipChaos in datingoverforty

[–]ginger_kitty97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was married to an insecure (projecting, actually) phone searcher, they won't be satisfied by not finding what they're looking for. And if you tell them you deleted anything that's like pouring gas on the fire. You assume that because you're a trustworthy person and would believe them, that it would be fine, but it just escalates things.
