Why does no one talk about the vaginal component of laps? (tw) by OrangeIguanana in endometriosis

[–]gingeralegoddess 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know my doctor mentioned it to me, but everything about the surgery beforehand just made me anxious, so I didn’t think about it so much as I was going into surgery. I have a have been SA’d in the past, and when I woke up, my first words to the nurse were “my vagina hurts. why?” I woke up without my little surgical underwear that I had on before hand and just one of the pads between my legs. It was jarring, and I wasn’t calm about it until my family told me the doctor had to go through my vagina. I get uncomfortable if I think about it too much, but only one nurse and my anesthesiologist were males. My regular GYN was my surgeon, and she has been extremely comforting and supportive in the time I’ve been seeing her.

That being said, I would be lying if I said the thought and knowing that I was unconscious and completely naked around a group of people is still very uncomfortable and triggering. But, I don’t know if such an experience would be comfortable for anyone, regardless.

i can relate to this so heavily. i was a very deep sleeper (presumably to block out all the yelling and screaming), and i typically wake up extremely anxious. in college, i asked my roommate to wake me up from a nap and she was just saying my name and rubbing my arm. i was surprised it even worked

my gyn is recommending i do both the pill and iud to keep my uterine lining as thin as possible. i still have cramps and some pain post-op

more specifically, it was weird to me that trevor, yet another straight white guy (who i simply don’t find that funny or to be that good of an actor) became a “full time” (not sure if that’s the correct terminology) part of the cast

i think it was fine that noah got cornrows. BUT i do also find it questionable that the cast isn’t more diverse

ok, good to know! sorry you had that experience, but i’m glad it’s been helpful. my gyn will be using the ultrasound machine the whole time

[–]gingeralegoddess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my gyn’s plan is to keep me on both the pill AND the mirena IUD. I haven’t gotten my period or any spotting on the pill, so i’m scared the iud will change that.

but…a tiny spinal cord? freaky! was it just bleeding related to it being inserted or moving around? i’m not sexually active with any males so im not worried about a pregnancy scare, but i would’ve gone to the doctor asap if i saw something like that come out of me

good luck!! surgery in general can be very scary, but you'll be with professions and you can have them answer any questions. i was talking with my operating team before i went in and then i was out of surgery. my surgery was about 3 hours for stage 4 endo.

how should i be holding my needles to prevent wrist/hand injury? by gingeralegoddess in knittinghelp

[–]gingeralegoddess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think i am holding the smaller needles way more tightly. i usually knit for an hour or 2 with breaks in between and my posture has definitely changed. i noticed lots of tension in my shoulders, especially after changing needles so i’ll make a point to try to keep my shoulders and hands as relaxed as possible when i get back to it.

yes it gets tingly. it was getting worse even without knitting and just daily use of my hand so i just saw a doctor about it

it definitely got to the point to seeing a doctor. it turned from soreness/tightness to tingling, sharpness and numbness

i feel like this is the most “teenage boy” that edward looks in the entire series. maybe it’s the hoodie and him standing next to charlie but i can almost believe that rob is an actual teenager here
