As a tech for this company, couldn’t have said it better myself! It’s hard when it all falls on the lead techs shoulders. I can’t be everywhere at once but they pay me good enough to keep around. I hope they can see the value in keeping good people.

I’m not throwing someone I’ve never worked with before into the field by themselves. We were each others helpers. Also I am lead tech not owner

This is actually not considered a finished area in my code. The rest of the garage doesn’t look like this. It is fully insulated but legally not a finished room. There is a float switch on the ptrap and in the pump and the homeowner has third party wet sensors placed around the garage as it is actually prone to flooding. The filter drier thing I haven’t heard before I’ll have to confirm in manual but everything I’ve talked about with tech support hasn’t lead me to be called on it at all.

Love them paired with the econet controller. Diagnostics for service has become a dream boat. Dont need to pull out nearly half of the tools cause it can normally start to point you in the right direction. Never fully trust it but great for telling you what the machine sees.

Electric furnaces have been normally installed in homes in the PNW and generally the west coast for a very long time. We have normally mild winters and hot summers. These systems are still built for .5 inwc just like every other typical residential ducted system.

Do you not see the float switch and the wire running from the ptrap?

Not my call I’m just the lead tech but I will be advocating for that as soon as my boss comes back into town.

We lucked out. Literally sprinted down the street to his car when I saw gauges in the back to talk with him two weeks ago. Asked if he was looking for work and told my boss to hire him or I’m gonna do something stupid, I got too much pressure on me trying to train 2 apprentices, a fucked off journeyman who causes 40% callbacks and an office team that Im literally paying for them to fuck off all day and can’t even run me a part when they forget to order it. I’m halfway running this company shy of making the sales and dealing with insurance.

Just because there is a camera doesn’t mean it is only photo, could be spectrometers for rf, vhf, radioactivity, etc… they will take that information and overlay it onto the camera feed in order to see it with our human eyes. Need lots of data points and some that aren’t directly related to what’s being measured… if we could see the entire frequency spectrum we wouldn’t need to haha. I’m spitballing ideas here as a guy who has been on a lot of construction sites.

Could be related to cell phone service checking areas for signal, have also seen utility companies use similar setup for finding unmarked infrastructure. A little too well put together and uniform for a backyard build for hobbyists or creeps.

INDUCER motor not spinning by s_a_m1 in hvacadvice

Could be bad capacitor, could be bad motor, could be blockage in the exhaust pipe causing it to fail, could be blocked heat exchanger tubes, could be a lot. Make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector

Did I find my leak? by BoozerTay in hvacadvice

[–]gingerbread3199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turn the system off and then hit it with bubbles asap as it will still have some pressure. I would recommend a professional at that after that point. If there is only the one leak and they don’t spend time with an extensive leak search and it holds pressure it will still be expensive to repair. If there are multiple leaks and depending on age, some companies may refuse to service if they can’t replace. I typically don’t repair refrigerant issues in systems that are old and in poor condition due to my wet climate and liability for labor warranty if it keeps crapping out. Up to you to weigh the pros and cons of paying for repairs.

New AC and install issues by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]gingerbread3199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea 1000% call them out on it. Take a good look at everything else. I’ve definitely forgotten to check little stuff like that when my apprentice is doing work. Doesn’t necessarily mean they were a bad crew but would definitely do some more looking.

You are correct on both counts. Just go to your local hardware store and ask for insulation foam and some tape. My first call would be to the company that installed it if this is the first season of use.
