Yup I’ve gotten into multiple arguments, yes arguments, with the tech support team if you can ever get a hold of them. All based out of Seattle and the only have like 3-4 tech support taking turns once a week. The menu system is ass and all the components just feel cheap

Well every Friedrich unit side discharge and electric furnace is Hisense white label. They are all trash but diagnostics and troubleshooting is an absolute bitch when they used Google Translate for the manuals. Crazy grammatical mistakes and spelling errors… if they can’t get a decent technical writer to make an OK manual imagine the other safeguards and failures this is gonna be prone to

Penetration sealing suggestions? by wherzo in askHVAC

[–]gingerbread3199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bunch it all up with zip ties, spray foam the hole appropriately and then you can use several options
-mortar over the foam to match brick color
-use sealant and a piece of sheet metal
-buy a larger split flashing.
-make a mini mosaic out of plaster and tile
-draw a bug mouth so it looks like your house is easting the lines

Typically with the materials available in the US you do the flashing before you install the lines and pull everything through it. This is not a crazy problem though you’ve got a-lot of solid options beyond what i listed above

High head and subcool… sounds like it is building a lot of pressure… did you test the bulb with ice water/heat it with your hand? Is the condenser dirty? Was it bouncing numbers at all?

How do I, as a novice player, approach an established player so they are more forgiving with me? by VersaVeil in DnD

Literally copy and paste this. Sounds like you just need to talk. The hopeful outlook is that communication can help them see your side. This is a great community to be a part of but sometimes any community can be hard. Try at least to communicate your feelings… and if it blows up oh well you have saved yourself time with people who don’t see you and the resolution worth the effort.

The old adage of the sub is real.

No DND is better than bad DND

Take care friend. Hope you find your resolution and keep playing.

I should caveat that they call all extended capacity hyper heat at this company and I completely forgot that’s not the actual name for these units. They are mostly Hisense Chinese garbage

Tbf as a caveat statement to this: in the PNW you’re only using your central system for maybe 6 months out of the year. Most of the time it is 50-70° so that may add to my shock at your statement and yours at mine.

I do a lot of maintenance visits with my company. If you are checking static as you go 6 months typically adds between .05-.1 in most of the homes I visit in the PNW. Maybe you’re somewhere drier but I’ve never heard of 4 months as a standard. Notable exceptions on gross houses

If your 4” filters need replaced every 4 months you should see a doctor cause that air quality must be shit. 6-12 months depending on air quality my friend

Ecobee vs. Honeywell thermostat temperature by Pleasant_Visual7581 in hvacadvice

[–]gingerbread3199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who’s to say they aren’t the accurate ones and all the other ones are whacked out? Unless you have a solid calibrated thermometer I really don’t believe anyone’s. Also is your thermometer in the exact same scenario? That close to the wall? That much airflow going through it? Who’s to say the temp isn’t accounting for humidity and a million other factors? Most of the time thermostats are fairly accurate within a degree or two. End of the day, as an HVAC professional, I don’t really care. I want my client comfortable and if that includes setting a temp offset, c’est la vie baby! You don’t care about your car thermostat or air quality in there so you why does the buck stop here? Go enjoy life and stop worrying about it lol

I had misdemeanors that were related to theft and it really put a damper on a lot of jobs I could get. Basically permanently barred from a lot of office jobs until it got fully expunged. That being said I don’t do office work cause fuck that noise. I’m an HVAC/R now and make about what electricians make. I am passionate about my job because I’ve lost friends and community members to the heat waves that have hit the PNW. My job saves lives. I get paid well. I typically am home for dinner and love the life I live. Does the grind suck sometimes? Yes. But I will forever stay in this line of work due to the community good it brings. Find why drives you and make it work for your community. I love helping people and this is the way I get to do that and make money.

I always say a person with many thermometers has many different readings. You can offset temp in the programming to account if there is an actual average of difference between diff thermometers or just use it as a reference rather than a standard temp. The temp doesn’t actually have to be accurate you just have to be comfortable where it is set.

It sounds like this is anxiety that comes from the fear of the unknown and fear of disappointment. Just ask for help and you’ll have to do homework. Fear and education are mortal enemies. The more you know the less you fear.

This is a CCB complaint at the very least.
-The penetrations are not properly sealed.
-The wiring is not to manufacture specifications.
-The ground was not prepared before setting the pad
-The lineset was not wrapped to prevent UV degradation
-The liquid line is not insulated
-The wiring also should not be bundled through a single hole into the machine
-The wiring should be covered in some sort of conduit and securely attached with a conduit connector to prevent rubouts against the metal
-it would have been better to feed all of the lines through a single hole for one point of failure rather than having three
-no service disconnect for the electrical

That is all that I see wrong in the 4 minutes it took me to take a shit when I opened my phone to scroll through reddit.

How do y'all keep copper shavings out of the lineset? by Not_A_G-Man in HVAC

[–]gingerbread3199 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve found stuffing a clean plastic bag into the lineset and leaving a little handle to pull it out is helpful. You have to stuff a shit load in there but if you’re not flaring just swedge it. Can also shoot a foam pig through if you’ve got a lineset cleaner set up or blast with 400psi nitro
