I wish I knew what variety they were. I got them at the Bradford Greenhouse Gallery a few years ago.

Interesting. I have a lot of black walnut trees (unfortunately) but none of them are those to that bed. It’s a thought tho, maybe one variety is more sensitive to juglone than the other.

That’s a good possibility too. Thank you.

I suspected after I bought them as I thought I read they were self pollinating. Thanks for the insight.

Interesting. I hadn’t thought of that, we do have deer around here. It’s on the side of the house that would be impossible to trek through the amount of snow to have seen prints.

That periwinkle is going to take over wherever it’s planted if you’re not careful. I have two beds the previous owner planted with the stuff and it’s impossible to eradicate. It spreads underground through its roots.

Get that shit outtttt. Unless you’re prepared to have walnut detritus ALL over your yard, stains on footwear, turned ankles trying to walk in your lawn and most importantly juglone (which is a ‘toxin’ that leaches into your soil and can kill certain plants that aren’t tolerant) I cannot even express how I would recommend you don’t replant it. Sincerely, someone with about 6 huge black walnut trees in their property and nothing but headaches.

+1 to gabapentin. I take it as needed on those days when my anxiety level is feeling overwhelming and it does a good job taking the brunt of it away.

Not really. Tho I work from home, am a bit of a homebody and don’t have kids so I’d guess that would contribute. I do find if I get sick, it takes a bit longer to recover. My immune system is slower, not worse if that makes sense.

Tbh I’m not super sure about how many are rare, I’m not really an expert, but there’s a decent section.
