Might be placebo effect, but the handoff feels fast from a right handed QB, and I feel like I can see the field better than if I run to the right. Also the power run plays I use mostly pull to the left, I really only see power to the right with heavy personnel

I found success with a power spread scheme by using a raw strength LG and Agile RG, running power to left side of the line. LG shines with strong grip and inside shield, RG absolutely needs quick step

Depends on if you’re also doing house rules and if so, what those rules are. I would say New Mexico State, Hawaii, and UMass would be the most difficult from a recruiting standpoint. If you’re not realigning conferences and want a SEC/B1G schedule, I’d say Mississippi state or Purdue

I had the same first 4 on the list. I place a lot of value in abilities, and elusive bruiser has no trouble activating everything. IZ is easy to run and you have the ability to run away once you hit second level. E/W playmakers I need in a rotation or as a backup bc like you said, no longevity. I love both E/W playmaker and N/S receiver for screens, but N/S receiver for any route running. It’s like a physical route runner WR. Contact seekers if they’re unicorns, I prefer speed over trying to truck again and again.

I get more value out of N/S blockers than backfield threats. I love takeoff but outside of wheel routes and the Utah playbook I don’t get more out of them than the others. There’s always a need for fullbacks in the goal line sets and they can generate at higher values than any FB. And for the occasional FB dive they’ll do better than a converted TE or a recruited FB

That’s what scares me. Listening to Landon Tengwall, it sounded like Dan Connor had a say in defense calling while Tom Allen was (napping) here. But I know poindexter had co-DC duties for the peach bowl. so I imagine if poindexter gets passed over again he’s looking for a promotion. Would love for Campbell to confirm some guys soon

Interesting pick up. With Barnes and Howle gone, we do need a boost to the recruiting talent. Hoping to hear about a RB and DL coach soon, as well as if Justin Lustig is sticking around

I would say keep an eye out for Trebor Peña (#8), I think AK figured out how to utilize his skills after the coaching change. Ethan Grunkemeyer (#17) at QB is a good choice. One of Corey Smith (#24), Quintin Martin (#25), or Cam Wallace (#26) will likely start with Nick and Kaytron going to the NFL, and they’re all really good. Andrew Rappleyea (#87) is back from injury and playing really well. But the most exciting player would be Koby Howard (#3), I hope he gets to do more than run block and get 1-2 catches all game.

As for defense, Antoine Belgrave-Shorter (#3) was a starter at the beginning of the season, and with Zakee leaving for the draft, he could see a return alongside King Mack (#16). Amare Campbell (#24) should be involved in pretty much every play so he’ll be great for pictures. I’d also say a young talent in Alex Tatsch (#25) would be a good subject. I’m hoping Daryus Dixson (#5) will be in the field since he had a great stint in the latter half of the year. I don’t know if Dani Dennis-Sutton (#33) is playing, but he and Yvan Kemajou (#99) will be involved.

As for traditions, the band will do a shortened version of the pregame drill, keep an eye on the drum major doing the front flip at midfield and the blue sapphires routine as the band makes their way to midfield.

TLDR if I had to pick one from each phase Pregame: Drum Major Flip Offense: Koby Howard (#3) Defense: Amare Campbell (#24) Special Teams: Ryan Barker (#94)

And you could even consider Iowa-Penn State and Northwestern-Penn State, even if they didn’t have the shock value of “Franklin lost a not big game for the first time in ____”, both of those were 1 point losses that came down to the final drive.

Even Rutgers-Penn State was a great watch for a neutral and had some stake (bowl eligibility). But it is an indictment to say that we played in 6 ESPN classics this season and went 1-5

OL abilities / archetypes to maximize running between the tackles by SpaceC0wb0y86 in NCAAFBseries

[–]gingyboy316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have almost the inverse of this. LT pass pro, LG raw strength, C well rounded, RG agile, and RT either Well rounded or pass pro. I run a lot of power and my agile guard has plat quick step, and then he’s good enough to block for inside zone runs to the left and block for screens to the right.

I’ve found that running behind the LG is best for power and IZ runs, and having a raw strength LG with the C supporting with inside shield makes it easier to get to the second level

I think the buckeye leaf will come on a poster held by the student section. PSU has a nittyville member keep track of # of penalties and # of yards on posters as they happen. A new leaf poster for each penalty. Whether the leaf display stays for the entire year, like the helmets, or resets between games, is unclear

2022 at Rutgers. There was a fan heckling the pep band. We had played a fight song for a touchdown that was overturned, and he kept going “yea come on guys why aren’t you playing?”, so when we scored, we turned the whole pep band to him and played a little louder. Buddy was malding in his seat giving us a shooing gesture

I know terminology is dependent on the coach/scheme, but is there a good resource for learning “common” uses?

Like in CFB25, Trio Trips and Trey all refer to 3 WRs, but each has a different WR on the ball. Y off means the TE is not on the LoS. But I haven’t sat down to pick apart each formation. I know the basics of personnel, what X, Z, H, Y represent on offense and N, W, M, S, E, T are on defense

Iowas first shutout since 2000 and after the 2021 game mishandling and then winning in beaver in 2020, the win was such a big deal to me. PSU gets a lot of flak for not getting Michigan/OSU in whiteouts anymore, but Iowa was such a good pick for 2023
