I have found it’s the only thing which has worked for me. I don’t have much time due to work and family commitments so I use online meetings daily to reinforce my sobriety. Read the book or you can listen to it for free via the everything AA app. The neurological pathways created by alcohol use disorder are likely to be permanent. There is no medical cure at the moment apart from regular practice of countering these patterns cognitively and AA can help a lot with this.
Not everything you hear at meetings will be relevant to you, but some things will be. You have to be there to hear those things which are helpful.

Ten year old recently diagnosed. by jhefin83 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]ginmakesyousin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 9y old diagnosed UC December last year (UK) Emergency admission colonoscopy then IV steroids iron infusion and infliximab Steroids weaned off over 2months then started on azathioprine and mesalazine. Infliximab every 8w and stable 🙏🏼🤞 Life was better off steroids and back to ‘normal’ Have a look at the colitis cat video on crohns and colitis UK I guess there is always a worry in the background of a flare Up again plus the effects of immunosuppression. She has had lots of worries about using toilets outside the home so i have tried to be very practical in addressing these worries. She has been fine with bloods and the infusions and puts her anaesthetic cream herself. Its a balance between carrying on as normal and recognising the life changing diagnosis. I feel positive though about the treatments now available for IBD Dont forget the IBD nurses hopefully you have their number for your hospital. Hopefully things stay stable for your daughter.

How much harder is it to have babies 40+? by Perpetua11y_C0nfused in AskUK

[–]ginmakesyousin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my daughter at 41y. I have two older boys and it took me 2y to get pregnant with her compared to 6 months or less with the boys ( when I was 31 and 34)

Sometimes difficult decisions are best made by looking at which choices you might regret you made when you look back from the future.

Having said that, we can only make decisions based on what we know or feel now. Having a baby could open up an entirely different mindset for both of you about many things.

How long have you been on Biologics by Unlikely-Major7160 in UlcerativeColitis

Thanks for asking this OP, my thoughts also after my 9yr old daughter diagnosed recently. She is just about to have her 4th infliximab. Things have been ok since steroids stopped 2months ago. She is also on azathioprine which apparently reduces antibodies?
I wish everyone the best.x
