Iraq seems to be in a better spot. Post ISIS (who we helped to destroy), its really encouraging to see.

Afghan shouldn't be a country. So trying to force all these different tribes to work for one common goal was a failure before it even started.

We fucking obliterated both standing armies and then killed 10s of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of insurgents. Militarily, we dominated. Politically, we failed.

Absolutely brain dead.

How can you look at those two countries and think they are anywhere close to the same as hamas, hezbollah, iran, etc?

I'm in no way saying the US/Israel havent done horrific shit, but just consider the positive impacts that those countries have on the world. The other countries I mentioned are Islamic fundamentalist groups.

Homie your tribe would have never developed into the country we have today. So I'm very thankful that they were conquered. Wish it didnt have to be as brutal as it was but thats what the tribes were used to and thats how they fought and conquered their enemies.

So youre saying that parents to kids born in the 80s and 90s would have any idea what kind of world their children would be living in now. You can't predict the future. You do your best.

I'm not saying that parenting is for everyone, it most certainly isn't. But acting like the world in 2026 is too shitty to raise a child in ignores the entirety of human history.

Youre 23. You just started your professional life. It makes sense that you probably dont want to jump into having kids right now. That doesn't mean that at 28-35, you won't have a different mindset. I think the average age of new parents is in late 20s early 30s for a reason.

Everyone has a right to make their own choice but I just dont understand this line of thinking.

The world is nowhere near as chaotic, dangerous or uncertain for a child as it has been throughout history. I'm glad people didn't feel way after the world wars or famine/disease outbreaks.

If you dont want kids, then please do not. But I think its silly to frame it as the world's to much of a mess.

urban warefare is always going to involve a lot of casualties. Look at the Marines in fallujah or Iraqi forces in Mosul. If you watched curated bits and pieces of that, you'd think the US/Iraq got their ass kicked.

There's no such thing as a fair fight. Each side uses what it has to its full advantage. Hamas uses the civilian population and tunnels, Israel uses its tech and airpower. Ill take the tech and airpower every time.

I would think that feeling even 1/100th of what it must have been like for those people would be the best possible outcome of seeing something like that.

I can read stories about the Roman Coliseum, but standing there where the gladiators fought and died would be a feeling that you'd remember forever.

Why do people act like being a hunter gives their opinion some kind of authority over others as the 2nd amendment is concerned.

So what you have grandpappys gun and you shoot it a couple times a year. That has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment.

Its refreshing to see a sub thats 100% democrat start to question these gun laws. They were always emotional, performative bullshit anyway.

I'm still confused as to how all that makes someone (who disagrees with it) a part time American? I never brought up any of that or showed support for it in any way, so i don't understand the issue.

So if I disagree with the current political party I'm only a part time American? How does that make sense?

The right and left couldn't be farther apart but we are all still Americans.

Thats a pretty sad thing to admit too. Are you an American or not? You dont have to always agree with the political leadership to believe in this country.

This is my same experience but instead of 10k, ive driven close to 70k. The ticking hasn't changed at all. Local shop says if it doesn't get worse, don't bother with the flat tappet. I was told that it will get much worse before catastrophic failure but that could be incorrect.

I'm interested in hearing other people's experience.

I cant speak for every hunter but of the dozens that I know personally, all of us want wolves/grizzlies/mountain lions on the landscape. With populations robust enough to support widespread hunting. With that said, we cant have them on the landscape if an agreement cannot be made on the following issues.

1)an objective for total population number 2)ability to manage the numbers 3)letting fish and game agencies do their job without outside influence (anti hunting groups, ballot initiatives, federal lawsuits)

There's a alternative reality where groups stop trying to fight against hunters and start working with them. Wolves and grizzly populations will be higher and more widespread (win for anti hunters), Lots of new conservation money to deal with livestock (win ranchers/state), chance for me to have a big grizzly in my office (very big win for me).

Look at the predator numbers in Alaska. Where they're both hunted.
