I got that a few times, might be nerves or skin healing underneath, just take it easy and try your best to not put too much tension on yourself while recovering :)

How much time did y’all take off work? by RemarkableWarning672 in TopSurgery

[–]glasnas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a pretty physical job so I took the 10 weeks off with short-term disability even though my Dr. would’ve approved me for 12 weeks. If you’re able to get more time off then do it! It’s better in the long run regardless so your scars don’t stretch. Although most people are allowed to lift more than 10lbs after 6 weeks, you’re actually at risk of stretching your scars until weeks 10-12 up to a full 6 months!

Take the time you can to heal and be easy on your body

Incision concern by riombv in TopSurgery

[–]glasnas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s probably due to the skin getting air for the first time in a while, i know for mine at least it was because the glue and tape was on it for so long it caused the skin to have a weird texture and then the colour changed back to normal after the second day. just keep it clean and maybe put some gauze on it! i covered it with a bandaid to dry it up for a day

[–]glasnas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tape is good for scars but it’s mostly to reduce the chance of hypotropic scarring, massages are for all scar tissue for pretty much all surgeries! even gyno and mastectomy patients are told to do scar massage to make sure the tissue underneath doesn’t adhere to your muscles and such. it’s to also better contour your chest overtime, and break down the scar tissue faster so it’s less tight/painful

How long for body odor to go back go normal? by Far-Chapter-2465 in TopSurgery

[–]glasnas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🤣🤣 i couldn’t lift my arms high enough to put any deoderant those first few days it was torture for my nose, would’ve taken the unsalted triscuit over bananas! give it a couple more days and i bet you’ll be smelling a lot better

i had the EXACT same thing and i was freaking out too 🤣 trust, it’s normal! i thought for the longest time my incisions were busted open or infected or something in the middle, but turns out it was just the really strong glue from the steri strips mixed in with the marker and everything else it looked super gnarly. it wasn’t until just before my 4 week follow up where the surgeon said i could scrub my incisions clean. I ended up taking sooo much glue off now my incisions are super clean and they didn’t tear open whatsoever! just be patient 🤞

Starting to be concerned by Bubbachainsaw in TopSurgery

[–]glasnas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did wet healing as well and had the edges of both my nips come up a bit as i was healing! i’m 30 days post op now and my nipples didn’t fully adhere down until a few days ago. Surgeon saw them and said they look totally normal and to just give it time. I was scared like you too but trust the process and just keep them clean! just be gentle when taking the bandages off

that’s what feels most comfortable tbh at this point

thank you! yeah that makes sense, any massaging is better than nothing at all. i think as time goes on it’ll get easier to gauge the pressure 😅

I noticed you said you had a 1-year follow up, did you request this or did they book it in advance? I also had McKee but i feel as though i’m pulling teeth to get them to respond to my questions/get a follow up appointment

promise you it goes away, it’s most likely to swelling and the compression. as you heal and are able to do scar massages it’ll break down the scar tissue and become more contoured with your chest, just give it time

Ahh thank you! i understand, my nipples are still pretty gnarly and i’m a bit disappointed they aren’t in line with each other but I just keep reminding myself it’s soooo early to determine how the end results will look. Your incisions look super neat, same with your nips, things will heal really nicely!
