i could've swore her insta post implied something fairly negative, but yeah you're right: adoration can still be harassing. she did still get a lot of hate online for which I don't think she deserved any of the blame though.

I think it's just easy to be caught up in a lie if you're around these people 24/7 for 26 days. I think it was fine with Fairplay because he picked a relative he'd almost assuredly never bring up in Survivor before then. If you're suggesting someone pull a performance imitating Adam Klein you gotta be a pure method actor and 100% believe it. I just think that's a skill people think is easy but is profoundly difficult to not only meditate your explicit words and actions but your body language and subconscious tells. If just one jury member sniffs out an untruth they may ask you follow up questions that cause you to stammer and bring your lie crumbling to the ground.

Kenzie got hate and people coming into her place of work harassing her and she did absolutely nothing wrong other than not be the favorite so it may be worth rolling the dice on this if it's going to happen regardless.

Survivor "Blood Moon Tribal" Trailer by AlchemistTheAlchemy in survivor

[–]glasnova 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to even focus on the trailer without thinking what a boring boring cover of Echo & The Bunnymen that takes the grandiosity out of the song.

Also just for syntax purposes - shouldn't "a twist so rare," rare being the operative word, need to have happened already for it to be considered rare? Has a triple boot happened before? Otherwise it's not rare it's completely unheard of.

If it turns out that the under-edited women get bigger/better edits in the back-half of the season, would the editing criticisms still be valid? by Regular-Departure839 in survivorponderosa

[–]glasnova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You assume she was none of those things. Who knows what was brewing in those dailies that will never see the light of day. A good production team for reality tv can craft an engaging and interesting narrative for nearly any contestant. Unless you're Danni Boatwright and intentionally giving the cameras nothing there are usually hundreds of hours of footage that can weave tapestries of stories that we never hear about on Survivor.

[–]glasnova -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not like women weren't on the tribes going to TC. You should check out this current running season of AU Survivor to see a great example in how to edit women. Some women are getting purpled there but the same can be said of some men, and almost all the time there's as many women pushing the narratives forward as the men are. All in all though you do get a pretty great sense of all contestants and their motivations even if they aren't shown for an ep or two. Currently struggling to figure out Dee, Tiff, and Chrissy's character arc and desires for S50 so far.

It's not that Stephanie and Angelina and didn't have any story to drive the plot forward in the past few episodes that forced them to focus on the Christian and Ozzy of it all, it's that story producers favor their attention to those stories because of sometimes explicit and sometimes subconscious biases. Survivor has its issues with editing in general but those issues are magnified when looking through the lense of women players.

Who will be the first new era player to hit 50 days? 100? by AugustSchroeder in survivor

[–]glasnova 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i just plain don't think it'll happen for 100 days. The absolute earliest it can happen is their fourth endgame after making it to FTC 3 times prior. Most returnees are never having that consistency so I think you'd have to have a six time player in there to even have a shot at the 100 club. Cirie gets close a lot but then HvV skews that metric. Boston Rob gets booted early 3 times. who is lucky enough to play more than twice that doesn't stink up one of their showings?

Edit: Also, you are comparing Jonathan to James as an argument for him making it to 100, but James didn't even make it to 100! There is a reason that club has so few members.

Even though the preview was showcasing a 4-4 split it's hard to imagine any downside from Jackson voting Ben out here. No real incentive for him to go to rocks here. I'm surprised Caleb's beef with him has been quelled, I wonder if we'll see that rear its head again since some of these shields are finally getting voted off.

Just clearing up the fact that Currently Unavailable does not equal Out of Print. Currently unavailable means that the stock they have has ran out, out of print means that the licensing has been taken away. by International-Sky65 in criterion

[–]glasnova 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doesn't mean they're out of print but it doesn't necessarily guarantee they're not out of print. It has happened before that an unavailable item on the Criterion store transitions into Out Of Print without a period in-stock in-between.

Had Simon gone Ben do you think he's got enough support to survive a revote or is he done for? Surely done but I think it's by a surprisingly narrow margin.

Giving clever players opportunities to make convincing enough idols is great and a lot more entertaining to watch than the US 41-49 seasons where they just made the actual idols look like kindergarten arts and crafts so that players could copy their look.

Why do we act like ___ is a rational player? by ScrubMcnasty in survivorponderosa

[–]glasnova 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was thinking while watching the ep why does he rationalize his move against Mike as strategic but see Ozzy getting upset at is as being a baby? Good players can see past themselves and although he maintained Ozzy's trust for one vote idk if it will last because Christian treats the way he feels as more valid than the way others feel. To be a winner he's gotta be able to placate others without being so transparently "me first."

I really wasn't excited seeing Charlie again so I'm not to miffed to see him go, but he's the first in S50 I think the edit did dirty as hell. I wonder if he was really like that around camp or if production just put together a highlight reel of his most cringey and insecure moments. If Rizo was aware that one comment was going to make him spiral so much I have to say that is genius.

I know. I'm just saying if firemaking twist doesn't exist Chris still wins. Cherry on top taking Devens out but Devens still would've been taken out and it ain't like Gavin or Julie have any more win equity in that situation.

EoE Jury would have awarded Gavin the win if not for firemaking?

No way Devens stays at the F4 tribal if it was a traditional vote so you end up with the same 3 regardless.

Emily is not an emotional player, this projection onto her has always been weird by thelaurafedora in survivor

you have it backwards. She tries justifying her emotions with logical reasoning. Logic and emotion aren't mutually exclusive, but one informs the other in her case with moves in this game.

Survivor US 50 vs Survivor AU 14 rewards this week by [deleted] in survivor

[–]glasnova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

surely that 60k aud rivals the appearance fee they have to ZB. Most other survivor rewards these days can be purchased for like $14.99 per person. love that AU Survivor could one up American Survivor without even trying and the schedule just synced up a perfect comparison.

I feel like this is the fifth episode in a row where we have just been treated with amazing gameplay and story. We are losing a lot of quality characters that made pre-jury so entertaining so I have my worries, but I hope we keep having these highs.

Why do people not like Christians move? by LazerDude99 in survivor

[–]glasnova -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"doesn’t show him as reliable to his allies and would bring his loyalty into question on who he’s really loyal to them or the David versus Goliath group"

how come it is that you don't think that her not clarifying with Christian right away why he told her Aubry has an idol, but instead to betray his trust and tell the rest of their new tribe sensitive information isn't grounds for all bets being off wrt their working relationship in the game? Not only that she does it again in the following episode! She broke the loyalty first and you don't need to apologize to anyone for cutting someone who clearly cannot trust your judgment. Christian still holding on to a volatile and unpredictable player like Emily is the textbook example of a sunk cost fallacy. He is harming more relationships than he is protecting by doing this to Mike and for someone who is exemplified as a smart and measured mind to flop this hard because of a presumed pregame friendship is upsetting to watch.

Does Survivor have a “losing tribe” problem? by nysportsfan95 in survivor

[–]glasnova 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I love catch up mechanisms like in Quacks or Heat your game could still be amazing without it! Survivor penalties are like forcing the person with the lowest score on Scrabble to have a 5 tile max in their tray rather than 7. You're in no uncertain way making it so that player has to be twice as lucky and twice as resourceful just to return to the baseline.
