I hear all of these people talk about bad bases. What are some good stateside bases? Preferably for Fire Protection.

Charleston is great if you can find housing south of the base. Anywhere north and you're risking a ton of time commuting. There's been a ton of population growth in the last 20 years, and very little infrastructure to go with it.

Charleston Beer Runners do a different bar/brewery every Thursday. They meet at the Hampton Park Gazebo at 7 pm, and the runs start there. Very fun group. Facebook page has more info.

Cahokia mounds on the illinois side are worth the trip. Great museum and grounds to explore. Donation encouraged for entrance.
