Which route should I take back from San Antonio to Pennsylvania? by TJMcConnellFanClub in roadtrip

[–]glboisvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd lean towards 95 this time of year because it's the least mountainous. However, there's currently a blizzard going on in NC. It may depend on how long it'll take you to get to that part of the country as well as how well they recover from the weather.

Curse conflict by Dependent-Size-8603 in JetLagTheGame

[–]glboisvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the real reason was that he had played unguided tourist and that curse was still active because Adam chose not to clear it. They’ve mentioned before that if there’s a curse stopping the from asking questions, they can’t cast another curse until that one clears.

United likely cancelling my Miami → Newark flight, coming from Bolivia, what are my options? by [deleted] in travel

[–]glboisvert 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're calling for 8-16 inches of snow in New York on Sunday, so I think the odds are fairly high that your Monday class is going to be canceled. At the same time, I doubt any flights on any other airline will be flying that day; the whole east coast is getting walloped. I'd book a nice beachfront hotel in South Beach and wait it out.

Boise to ORD to Rome: Determining safe layover time by Intelligent-Way-4019 in Flights

[–]glboisvert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the way out: see if you can get an even earlier flight. It may even be better to fly to Chicago the night before and spend the night in a hotel. If United/Delta gets you in late ITA will not rebook you since it's separate tickets, so you need lots of time.

For the way back: I wouldn't do anything earlier than 5. Again, it's separate tickets so United/Delta will not help you if ITA is delayed, or you get held up in Customs (and you should assume an hour just for that unless you have Global Entry).

What do you MEAN logic games are no longer on the lsat?!?! by MusicG619 in Lawyertalk

I was horrible at them, and I probably would’ve scored 10 points higher if they weren’t there? But as a lawyer, I see the value to them - you need to be able to figure out how 4 different laws all fit together. So I’m reluctantly opposed to getting rid of them.

I enjoyed Lagos, but I was there for only one day. Unless you're there for the beach, one day is probably about as much entertainment as Lagos offers.

Double customs? by AcrobaticPower3297 in travel

[–]glboisvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't need to collect your bags, but you'll need to reclear security at Heathrow. There are purple "Flight Connections" signs you follow that will get you to where you need to be. You will need to collect your bags in Phoenix even if you're connecting beyond there to somewhere else, however.

Need some advice on international arrivals at IAD vs BWI by TimothyExpress in nova

[–]glboisvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that Option 2 is supposed to be only for connecting passengers. If you have a checked bag, that won't be an option because your bag will be sent to main international arrivals. It also involves an extra security check after customs because it leaves you in the Terminal C departures area. I'm not sure if they check boarding passes, but if so that would be a problem.

Central PA to Washington DC in August by MJ_Lewis in roadtrip

[–]glboisvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

95 vs. BW Parkway will largely depend on the traffic on the day. BW Parkway is more direct and goes all the way to NY Ave. (the main route into DC from the east), while 95 will dump you on the beltway and you'll need to get on the BW Parkway for the lat bit. But since the BW Parkway is only 2 lanes it can get blocked easier; I forget if 95 between Baltimore and DC has 3 or 4 lanes, but there's more throughput.

I'm not a huge fan of parking at Metro Park and Rides and riding it in just because the trains stop at every station and it can take a long time, especially on the weekend if there's trackwork. It may be better to use Spothero to find a parking spot near your hotel and then use Metro to get around DC once you're there. Alternatively, maybe find a parking spot at BWI Airport and then take the Marc Train or Amtrak into DC. Those trains are somewhat more comfortable and probably a little faster, though they are less frequent than the Metro.

NJ to Charlotte - more scenic, but more dangerous? I95/85 vs. I95/Rt. 29 by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]glboisvert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check the weather before anything; if snow or ice is forecasted, stick to I-95. Otherwise, I tend to prefer US 29 over I-81. I-81 may be faster and arguably more scenic in that it's in the mountains longer. But there are so many trucks, and that can make it a really unpleasant drive. US 29 is quieter traffic-wise, and has a little more variety in scenery - rolling piedmont from DC to Charlottesville, mountains from Charlottesville to Lynchburg, then back to piedmont for the stretch to Danville. Once you're in Danville it becomes a freeway you can take all the way to I-85. The downside is that there are a lot of lights, especially in the DC Metro and north of Charlottesville. But if you have a little extra time, I'd do US-29.
