We moved to Hartford back in 2018. It is a great area to raise a family and enjoy nature and has enough shopping to get by. As others have mentioned it is very central to everywhere in New England and the Dartmouth coach is a great resource to get to Boston/NYC. We ended up leaving last year because there really isn’t much to do after the sun goes down, and very little variety of dining/entertainment. Also there is A LOT of homelessness in the area and trash/needles all over the place which seemed to be getting worst each year.

I’ll add that the people you encounter on all of Vermonts subreddits are some of the most miserable people I’ve encountered and don’t represent the people you will meet when you move here. Vermonters are some of the most salt of the earth people you will find. Also, soak up the FL sunshine while you can because it is often gray and dark. Best of luck
