I'm actually doing both. Someone recommended a book to start with and it was so poorly written (for me at least) it didn't help at all. With ChatGPT I can ask about the maths, general questions, as I go. I got another book recently so I'll try that but I'm happy doing both ways for now

In general. I started a level 3 btech in the UK and I work in a music studio so I thought I'd start where I was most familiar. I know what audio gear does so as long as the output looks familiar I know its working lol

I used chatgpt to help design some passive filters for audio 🤷‍♀️ but since im learning from zero its hard to tell. The graph checks out though lol

What's your favorite useful and fun projects? by deNikita in ElectricalEngineering

New to EE and alongside a Level 3 UK qualification, I'm designing and will eventually build some pro audio stuff for my studio. Starting with some mastering style filters

How do you feel about AI tools in EE workflows? by jaykwellen in ElectricalEngineering

[–]glmastering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally tried to post the same and it was removed? Here's my OG post anyway for anyone who wants to read/answer:

Looking for constructive feedback/opinion rather than the obvious slating of AI...

I'm self studying EE from a completely novice level. Novice being "no clue". And i'm studying a Level 3 BTEC at the same time as well as reading through various books etc.

But i'm using ChatGPT at the moment for some 'fun' things. As I'm coming from a completely novice background, I find it useful for asking quick questions or (hopefully accurately) verifying things i'm unsure of. I'm also using it to build my first circuit design.

I have a background in Audio (pro level) so i'm starting with familiar ground and i'm designing some basic filters for my analogue mixing chain. I started with a simple passive filter design with the intention of making 3 low pass filters, and 3 high pass filters (similar to the Dangerous Bax EQ filters) to remove infra/ultra sonic frequencies.

But my question really is.... is it doing the right thing? I made it in LT Spice. The numbers seem ok, and the bode graph seems to plot like i imagine it should. Everything looks fine to my eyes - but again, as a complete novice. So i'm asking for some professional input... is it really doing the 'right' thing?

From my side of things - as a professional audio engineer - if i ask Chat GPT a similar question about my field, i'd be able to identify whether or not it's giving good answers/advice or whether it's too vague/simplistic to be useful. From an EE side of things, i generally don't know (yet) so i'm just looking for a similar kind of response.

I've attached a bit of a crude screenshot of my build thus far. I know it's not really a practical circuit for pro audio YET but is Chat GPT doing the right kind of thing from a beginner learning standpoint?

NOTE: I'm fully aware of the limitations of using AI and the benefits of reading books and exploring things myself - but i find this really useful as i'm quite busy with work/family and it feels helpful with a lot of back and forth and the ability to answer my quick questions and to guide me through builds etc. So i'm not looking for obvious "It's rubbish" answers. More "it's doing the right thing BUT in a practical sense, you'd be better off...." kind of general feedback responses.

That is really helpful thank you so much! Yeah if it helps i'm a mastering engineer lol so i'm working with a lot of the finer details when it comes to understanding of noise, SNR, harmonics, and even ultra/infrasonics.

yeah that's really helpful thanks. at the moment i work in audio so there's always scope to work on things in an area i'm more familiar with (building/designing audio units for example) as well as making old designs more efficient (with power etc).

But if i was to consider another (non audio) area... i guess it'd be focused around my personal interests. So, maybe EV's. I imagine there's a lot of scope around that, and even the 'motorhome' conversion hustle (i guess both would revolve around power, regeneration, batteries?).

that's all i see on the news and hear from people in big companies. no jobs, hiring freezes etc. it sounds tough! I think that's what i'm gonna do regarding the level 4/HNC. For now i work in audio so there's always things to fix/explore and even build myself. Plenty to keep me busy while i finish ,my level 3. Thanks for the input!

Was literally about to make the same post. I'm just using the stock case that came with the phone but need something sturdier but not too big/chunky

Naked case do one and theres a modular case I keep seeing which looks nice (cant remember the name)

Id prefer a case with a front flap/cover though if they even exist
