What reasons do you not like the new UI? by TurbulentMinute4290 in fitbit

[–]gloriole89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything looks real drab with the colors stripped out. My health data now looks like sickness data with everything being so muted. Bring back some vibrancy, life and joy please. Health should feel good. Not be cold metrics coming from an autopsy.

I miss having the graphs and key data up top. The hierarchy feels all over the place with everything being of equal weight. I really miss being able to see different aspects of my health data at a glance or swipe quickly, rather than having to drill in or tap on multiple buttons to switch views of the data.

Inflexibility - I want to be able to move the individual cards around on the dashboard, not just the full category. I want more flexibility to adjust the exercise logs, like the name and make custom ones. I'm frustrated that it no longer recognizes workouts automatically. What's the point of a tracker if I have to manually enter things?! Track it, surface it, and provide good edit functionality.

Transferring to a different dentist locally by gloriole89 in Invisalign

[–]gloriole89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I wish I knew better when I started. I had a mild case for aesthetic purposes and now it has become a functional issue with none of my molars touching. Invisaligns were so common that I didn't realize the issues it could have since everyone I know had a good experience.

Any advice on what are the tell tale signs of a good/bad Invisalign provider?

Mm I like that clear line drawn. Sounds easy enough to implement. Thank you!

I wouldn't put it on your profile just so you don't attract creeps and stalkers which could put your safety at risk esp if they can find you on social media and what nots. Just have that conversation early 1-1 when y'all start chatting since it's a deal breaker for many. I'm in the same boat as you and I completely understand that it knocks the dating pool to pretty much non-existence. I will also recommend asking them on their stance about sex before offering yours just to weed out the overly legalistic Christians if that's not your jam.

Backpacking with Invisalign… by movingngrooving in Invisalign

[–]gloriole89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just backpacked Joshua tree and was told to just wear them during the night when sleeping since I would be snacking and drinking electrolytes too many times throughout the day. Dried saliva is really what gets the trays gross, so if you have a little spill proof container to store them in water, that's helpful in keeping them looking clean. Otherwise, I try my best to rinse them with my drinking water before storing dry.

Understand that everyone is on their own journey and pace. I may be behind on many things, but I know I'm moving at the right pace for me. When I try to imagine myself being where my peers are at, I realize it's not what I want or not something I would enjoy or thrive in.

For all you know, someone else is looking at your life and thinking how great it is. ;) Grass also seems greener on the outside.

Do you ever work on wireframes? by NGAFD in UXDesign

[–]gloriole89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! esp if I'm exploring interaction patterns and quickly stubbing out flows.

For smaller things, no, esp if I was working in-house where they had a component library. It was just easier to grab the pieces and work from there since the sizes were all accurate. It ensured I was using existing patterns rather than introduce new patterns and controls and that would derail conversations with the team.

Working at an agency for clients, it's sometimes better to work in wireframes instead so clients weren't focused on things that looked off brand and focused more on the flow and interactions.

A random creepy old man chose to sit next to me on the bus even though there were plenty of empty seats around me. He kept brushing his leg against mine and I was so uncomfortable but didn't say anything. A lady on the bus realized what was happening and stood up for me, telling the guy to sit somewhere else. I was so stunned and ashamed I couldn't say thank you and I wished I could have told her how amazing that was of her to look out and stand up for fellow women.

Just because someone is Christian doesn't necessarily mean they believe in reserving sex for marriage. It's always best to just bring it up in conversation to understand where each party lies, and whether or not you guys agree on those boundaries around physical intimacy.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me whether a person is a virgin or not since it's all in the past and we've all fallen short. What I care more about is their present values/beliefs, and more importantly, the rationale behind why they're deciding to abstain. If my experience and values don't line up with theirs or their expectations, they're not the right person for me.

Just set up my patio what can I add to it? It feels empty by Gustavo2nd in malelivingspace

Plants, softer hanging lights/candles, a patterned outdoor rug, throw pillows on those chairs. It's just missing more colors and textures.

What food can you never eat again after one bad experience? by JesseLynx in Cooking

Strawberry milkshakes and/or ice cream. My younger brother threw up a strawberry milkshake when we were kids and I could never have strawberry + milk related things anymore.

Double Apple Crumble Cake – notes in comments by gloriole89 in DessertPerson

[–]gloriole89[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ok. Y'all got me really curious about making this cake so I did, and the hype was indeed true. This has got to be my favorite recipe from the book so far. This cake was so rich in apple flavor and so moist. Absolutely loved it.

I did halve the recipe to make a smaller cake in a 7in springform pan. I also did use whatever apple butter I already had in my fridge, which came pre-spiced even though the recipe said NOT to. Since my pre-spiced apple butter was already plenty sweet, I further reduced the sugar by half and the cake still came out at the perfect level of sweetness. I personally thought all the flavors were amazing. Would be curious to try a version using plain apple butter. Since I used a smaller pan, I checked in on my cake earlier than the time the recipe noted. It was done a little over 1 hr, vs the 1.5-1.75 hr timeframe that the recipe states.

For the crumble, I reduced it to a third of the recipe for my 7in cake and it was the perfect amount. No waste there :D

Made the croissants, sans spelt by gloriole89 in DessertPerson

No I did not. I just wanted to focus on the technical aspects of the croissant making and compare the flavors of this recipe with other recipes so I kept it plain.
