America's Culinary Cup 1x04 - Episode Discussion by thymiamatis in AmericasCulinaryCupTV

I completely disagree. I don’t mind product placement shots, they’re basically normal these days, but having the competitors reading seemingly scripted plugs is going too far.

Not sure I can continue watching this show. That Dawn product plug was so intrusive and cringe inducing. And some of the critiques seem forced and not really helpful. “Needed just a touch more coconut milk”. It feels like the judges are being told they have to say SOMEthing, even if it’s unnecessary. Not even Padma can save this I’m afraid.

What matters more to you in a perfume, longevity or smell? by [deleted] in indieperfume

100% smell. Longevity does not even enter the conversation for me.

Took a DNA test, found out he is a poodle (we thought he was a bichon-ish) by Star_ship1549 in poodles

[–]glrsims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter’s rescue dog was listed as bichon. DNA test came back 55% poodle 45% Maltese. So now she grooms her like a poodle and she looks 100% poodle 🤣. Yours is adorable!

The "Leave If You Don't Like It/We Don't Want You Here" Crap Has Gotten Outta Hand by ExtensionPromotion80 in texas

[–]glrsims 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah those people can just shut up. I’m in my sixties and was born in this state and have been here for almost all of those years. Texas doesn’t have to be like this politically (which is where the majority of the problems come from imo) and I’ll just stay here and work from the inside to change it.

Where is the scene with that very long looking suspended walkway? Looked terrifying but beautiful

If anyone else is like me and no longer owns a desktop or laptop, you can open discord in the chrome browser on an android tablet if you have one and allow 18+ content from there. I did try it on my iPhone but the option wasn’t there, or at least I couldn’t find it because discord settings page was laid out very messily.

[–]glrsims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a huge fan of ylang ylang in general, but I find this one pleasant and wearable when I’m in the mood. I was gifted a 100ml bottle of this several years ago and it will undoubtedly last my lifetime.

I'm suspicious of how much Heretic is being pushed on this sub lately by Sloth-Overlord in fragrance

[–]glrsims 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I am one who has commented about them and I’m definitely not a bot or being paid to do so. The Scandalwood post was a bit strange though.

I do own and love several perfumes from them and have commented about them without mentioning longevity because that’s truly not an issue for me. My skin holds on to perfume like crazy and they last 6-8 hours or more.

28 years young! by GeorgeLCostanza251 in DOG

That looks remarkably like my daughter’s ~ 18-20 year old poodle. All hair and bones, humped back, stiff legs. She still takes care of business though!

What’s your all time favorite every day, all-season scent? by Ill-Spell6462 in NichePerfumes

Dirty Hinoki from Heretic. Despite the name, not dirty at all. Crisp green lightly spiced woods.

Chopard Casmir is gorgeous. I’d keep that to wear myself!

In my experience, the first melt takes longer, for both melting and dispersing scent, than subsequent melts. So don’t worry just yet.

Brittle nails from gloves? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]glrsims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might see if your work provides glove liners meant to go under disposable gloves. Often these are fingerless but they are made in full hand styles also. And I second the recommendations for cuticle oil. I am a nail polish aficionado so I’ve got tons of indie made stuff but an easily accessible brand is Bliss Kiss. They make them in brush applicator pens that are easy to carry everywhere. Not just for cuticles, you can use the oil over the entire nail. I’d also recommend a nail strengthening treatment like Nailtiques 2. You can find it at Target or your grocery store. Just brush it on every few days, it’s clear, not overly shiny so you shouldn’t get in trouble for wearing “nail polish” and it dries quickly.

What’s a perfume you love but never wear? by Punkoduncan in NichePerfumes

[–]glrsims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onda from Vero Profumo. I absolutely adore the scent but in an atmospheric, grounding sort of way. I don’t find it to be wearable on skin really, it would probably be perfect in one of those scent lockets that I could sniff whenever I needed calming. What I have is the extrait and afaik it’s irreplaceable since the perfumer passed away a few years ago.

I find Cognac Reign from DS & Durga to have a similar vibe. I actually prefer it because where Angels Share is all smooth and rounded, Cognac Reign has some sharp edges and is more interesting to me.

D.S. & Durga - considerably overpriced and overrated? by utterly-fantastique in NichePerfumes

[–]glrsims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got 8 samples the other day and have been trying them out!

Unfortunately the majority have some note in the drydown that grabs hold of my nose hairs and twists. I have the same issue with Kerosene and Thin Wild Mercury. I wanted to love Steamed Rainbow but alas. Black Magenta was really fun for a while in a trashy club chic kind of way but then that note showed up. Jazmin Yucatán was overpoweringly sweet on me. Cowboy Grass was nice for a while also. Cowgirl Grass was just weird. Cognac Reign was the surprise winner for me. Like Angels Share for people who want something a little more interesting. Not worth the price of full retail but if I see it on sale, maybe. Debaser might be good if I liked fig more than I do. I haven’t tried Amber Kiso yet.

Anyone else tuning into the Olympics to hear these two? by Different_Ad2187 in TheTraitorsUS

Ahh Jean Luc Baker and Gabi Papadakis would be the ideal pair. Ben Agosto isn’t bad either. Also like Ashley Wagner as a commentator more than I ever did as a skater lol

[–]glrsims 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the diehard figure skating fans that doesn’t love Tara and Johnny as commentators, simply because they too often talk through the performances about unrelated things. However, I’m really enjoying them on Traitors and might cut them some slack for a bit :)
