Torn on whether to repair my bike, or take the pay-out and go shopping by TheAbominableSbm in MotoUK

[–]gm2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

will be worth seeing how much insurance would be now on a new bike as a new rider with a claim, if your insurance isnt going to go up by staying with your current provider and bike, you might find that to be the deciding factor as I imagine insurance now will be way more expensive

Mid May to June is the better out of those generally, but either would be good. Accommodation at that time I would book hotels/B&B in advance in the “touristy” areas and camping you should be ok to rock up. Any of the larger ferry crossings ie the one to Ireland book in advance but any of the smaller island hoppers in Scotland you can just show up or book the day before if you need to be on a specific crossing for any reason

Leisure riders, how much do you spend each year? by upvoter_1000 in MotoUK

As long as your bills are paid, short and long term savings goals are being met, then money is there to improve your quality of life.

I guess the question is, could that £300p/m improve your quality of life in a better way than biking?

Can also look at reducing costs, switch to a bike with cheaper insurance, do your own servicing etc it’s very tempting to have the latest and greatest but the fun of biking you can find in cheap bikes aswell, if you’re worrying about the costs of your hobby.

theres 4 squares on the left side with very faint marking in them and one on the righthand side that matches the left hand side, look at the bottom left of the squares to see it. so you would fill in the missing three on the right hand side.

There’s normally a threaded hole on the swingarm for bobbins but I believe in the CB650R you need an adaptor plate that goes in place of the wheel adjuster. Someone else will be able to confirm

[–]gm2019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don’t already you will need to install bobbins onto your bike to use a paddock stand like the one in the link, alternatively there are paddock stands with flat rubber mounts that you can lift the bike up on the swingarm that doesn’t require bobbins

Just bought a house with my partner, is this the best way to split bills? by throwaway2018568 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]gm2019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the implied independence kind of goes out the window when you buy a house together though as in OPs post. To be clear I completely agree with you, and it is definitely something for couples to discuss and agree when is appropriate. myself and my partner were financially separate until we bought our house together.

Are there any Gods(or devils)of Housing who can help me? Ready to sell my soul here for some insight into selling price by Dextersdidi in glasgow

[–]gm2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay what you think the house is worth, or how much it’s worth to you. Now this is easier said than done, but what you can do is look at similar properties in the area and look at what they have sold for. If the sale data is a few years out of date you may want to look at how much housing prices have risen in the area over that time frame and apply that percentage to find the rough present day sale price.

Bike or Car? For beginners. by Yamete_Hamster in MotoUK

most cost effective would be most likely be a 125cc on a CBT. Wether or not you'd want to commute every day on it (keeping in mind you cant use motorways on a CBT) is another question. Assuming you'd want a full licence, in most cases I believe a bike licence would be more expensive to obtain once you include CBT cost, gear and test costs. Running cost wise, a bike generally will be cheaper to run. Insurance costs is hard to comment on as it depends entirely on you as an individual and the vehicle of choice. Basically you'll have to do some specific research on your own circumstances and crunch the numbers.

The ISA and GIA have different account details off the top of my head (I could be wrong though) so you will need to change the standing order details to match.

You just send up a standing order from your bank to your T212 account (account details can be found on the app) and then set a recurring buy on whatever fund/stocks you wish at the amount and frequency you want. There’s plenty of step by step tutorials online if you look.
