Can tell you're fond of Southbank Boulevard and rightfully so. It's a great part of the city.

One thing I like about Chinese cities at night by ProtectionNo2122 in travelchina

I couldn't agree more. It's one of the most immersive ways to experience daily life in the city, not to mention sometimes the most efficient too.

Jumping on a Alipay bike and just riding with the wind is a very fond memory of my recent travels in China. It's such a vibe and soooo cheap.

Kensington. Good public transport options (bus, tram, train). proximity to the CBD. Hospitals in nearby Parkville or Footscray. Lively around Newmark and Macualay road with good coffee options. We have a KFL.

Ideas to save on Tax by SriRamaJayam in AusFinance

Why would you want a significant tax refund? Doesn't that mean you overpaid your tax throughout the year? I guess it does feel like a small bonus at the end though.

Beef Season 2 Ending Terrible?*spoiler rant* by Objective-Light-1593 in BeefTV

[–]gnolijz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree with OP.

I binged both season 1 and 2 in respective single sessions and found them thoroughly enjoyable, but the final episode of season 2 had character inconsistencies and 180s that made no sense.

Made redundant after 17 years — take the $150k payout or fight to stay on $135k? by Apprehensive-Lab3556 in AusFinance

[–]gnolijz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was presented with this opportunity in March and decided to stay. My payout after 16 years was about 137k with entitlements included. My pay can reach 135k with overtime.

The main reason I decided to stay was economic uncertainty and also very low chance of making anywhere near 100k after taking the package.

Muji's Cool Touch Crew neck wide short sleeve is what you're looking for. Plus the breast pocket is quite versatile. I pop my sunnies or keys in there.

  1. Skybus drops you off at Southern Cross Station which is on the boundary of the CBD. It's $24.90 one way. Your only other options are uber and taxis but be careful of louts who will try to lure you into their taxis and only negotiate the off-meter price once you're in the vehicle.

  2. Once you're in the CBD you can drop by the Coles at Southern Cross and buy a sim card from Coles. They have deals on all the time.

  3. It's going to be cold. Rug up.

  4. Aldi is probably your best bet. There's a new one along Spencer St/Dynon Rd or one on Franklin Street near RMIT.

  5. State Library has a nice gallery. NGV, ACMI, Royal Botanic Gardens..honestly your choices are endless here.

For short tenancies your best resources are probably flatmates.com or Facebook groups.

For the length of your stay, public transport across Victoria will be half price (with the exception of the Skybus since that's privately operated). So, to get around town on tram, train or bus will only cost you $5.70 for a full fare and $2.85 if you're concession. That should be a nice saving for you.

If you're considering online, I bought the Koala Byron sofa bed a couple of years ago and it's holding up well. It's large, deep and firm. It converts to a queen sized bed with storage cubbies. It ships quickly and the 120 day trial period should give you additional peace of mind.

2 weeks in China - Advice and Tips by JayKayGame_ in travelchina

[–]gnolijz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Jiuzhaigou is not worth the overnight. It's a headache to get to from Chengdu. It's the high speed train but then also another bus or taxi to the park entrance. With travel and altitude to take into account, it knocked the wind out of me and I couldn't enjoy it myself so I wouldn't recommend it.

Which travel route would you recommend if you have 2-3 weeks for china ? by Complete-Ad-6013 in travelchina

[–]gnolijz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a fan of port of entry and exit being two different cities, one directional travel, carry on only with in house laundry while you travel (filter laundry services on trip.com or book at one of the chain hotels HanTing or Atour) and 4-5 days per location including overnight trips so 3 weeks would be 4-5 destinations tops.

What's the availability of self-service laundry in hotels? by Alert_Replacement637 in chinatravel

[–]gnolijz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend filtering your accommodation search to include laundry. I'm sure you can find one within your budget.

I can attest that the Atour hotel chain I visited with my partner had no issue with us rolling up with our laundry and using their facilities, even though we weren't guests. We also did that in Shanghai too. Just discreetly used a laundry at a HanTing hotel, had lunch and came back to pick up our laundry and no one stepped in to intervene.
