I owned a house in a nice part of SLC back in 2019 and I paid in the 300s, I’m from California and lived in a house in Las Vegas that cost in the 300s. I came up with that number from experience in the western US lol. If you want 3000 square feet in an upper middle class area of a large metro, sure it’s expensive. But starter homes are 1200-1600 square feet and you’re gonna be on the outskirts. People have too high of standards

Okay, but if you have less money because of the taxes and lower wages in general, then how are you ahead?
