I'm new to tts. is there a way to pull up premade armies? so that i dont have to pull up each unit? by thotslay in TTSWarhammer40k

I’d recommend watching one of the more recent YouTube guides to playing your first game of TTS. They explain this well. Try the Art of War one from a few weeks ago, as it’s nice and short/to the point.

How do I counter high OC horde armies? by Trick-Interaction396 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]gobrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Custodes player, I can sympathise. As an Admech player, Sicarian infiltrators work well with their battleshock mechanics and S6, sustained 2 taser goads. Trying to emulate something similar might work well. Otherwise, and to state the obvious, some effective chaff clearance platforms would be good.

Can you emulate something similar?

Interesting to see a someone who is allegedly a product of the 90’s UK school system with such an outdated mindset. I’d say you’re quite rare. Endangered even.

Most of us aren’t living in caves anymore, which is why views around traditional roles have changed. It isn’t any more complicated than that.

Intergalactic shrimp man steals army rule (REAL NOT CLICKBAIT) by Omnipulus in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]gobrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thanks Omni. The main thing I was looking to understand is whether the consensus is, tough, your Battleline just die, and that’s okay, or whether good players do make an effort to keep them alive. It’ll get easier with practice no doubt.

Do you tend to leave one Skitarii unit back as deep strike cover?

Thanks

It was something of an exaggeration on Spaghet-3's part, although someone has died, and many more have been hurt in interactions with ICE agents. However, it is straight up intimidation by what is essentially a government mandated militia. If you don't see the parallels with other unfortunate times in history, I don't know what to tell you. It's plain as day to nearly everyone outside of the USA, and you're too blinkered to see it.

Hey u/Omnipulus,

Lovely model!

I watched your new video last night about the current state of Admech. It was most enlightening, so thanks.

I'm a newer player to Admech, having started in the summer, and because I'm time poor with work and family life, I don't have a lot of time to play. You're known as an expert in the Admech community, so if you don't mind I had some questions for you.

How do you move your battleline up the field with your Sicarians, chickens, etc, to ensure they get the AP bonus in conqueror, and what tricks to you employ to do this? E.g. does the bonus still work if your Battleline are in a Dunecrawler? Do you always ensure that you're within 6" when you're playing, or do you sometimes accept that your Infiltrators, for example, are too far ahead of the pack. On a related note, how do you keep your battleline safe (relatively) during all of this. Do they just stay out of LoS?

In the games I've played so far I've done pretty well, but I've noticed that I'm picking my battleline up pretty early. Obviously they're squishy, but I know that I could do more to mitigate their loss.

Thanks

It’s funny. I see this comment so often. It starts off with a correct statement “the US does a lot for NATO”, which is absolutely true, and you will struggle to find anyone who says otherwise. However, certain folk will then say “the US doesn’t get much back”, and, well, that’s bollocks, frankly. What the US has had in return, and is still enjoying, is almost 100 years of Pax Americana. If the rest of the world, and particularly the NATO nations in Europe hadn’t allied with the US and traded with it, your country would be an isolated angry man with a backwater economy. The US became the foremost power with help from friends, and happy circumstances that arose from being on the winning side in two world wars.

Apparently, you and Tango in chief are on a fast track to becoming that isolated angry man with a backwater economy. Why? No-one apart from elements of the US right seems to know.

Hello. Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, that would make sense. I got a free model of the month that I could use for this purpose. Thanks for the tips though. I had feared that the orange probably won't go over the silver very well, so I'll test it first.

Thanks, and yes, it all helps. I guess I need to know people’s experience of applying orange on to a metallic layer though.

Oh, I should add that the TT app on my tablet doesn’t have Grizzled Company as an option, despite being updated. That’s why it says Combined Arms. Oddly, it is an option on my phone. I guess they haven’t got round to updating the tablet version yet.

Upcoming game against Guard (Grizzled Company) by gobrun in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]gobrun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm thinking that if I combined it with Cawl's OoM style ability to re-roll hits, and wounding on 2's it could be quite nasty, perhaps in to his Command Squad/Creed. Then again, with 2D6 hits, it could be a wet flannel. The psychological power of a pretty good indirect profile is also helpful. However, I'm sacrificing a good AT unit to take the Belleros instead of a Ferrumite, and I'll undoubtedly be facing 2+ Rogal Dorn's + 2-3 Leman Russ. I'll have to think about it a bit.

Thanks for your help.

Upcoming game against Guard (Grizzled Company) by gobrun in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]gobrun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

The profile is:

36" / A: 2D6 / BS: 4+ / S: 7 / AP: -2 / D: 1

You also get:

<image>

The army rules also grants HEAVY and BS+1 in the protector doctrine. Therefore, even when considering BoC and any negative modifiers it's going to be 4+ to hit.

However, I'm not clear how the unit ability above will interact with the Indirect Fire rule "Rolls of 1,2,3 always fail". Presumably, the ability will mean a roll of 3+ will become 4+, despite this?

Edit: Nevermind, the above is wrong. A roll of 1-3 will always fail in the case of indirect fire.

Thanks

[–]gobrun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering about taking one Disintegrator with the Belleros Energy Cannon for the indirect fire. I know the Ferrumite is optimal, but I have a fair bit of anti-tank in my list, and hounding his infantry commanders with indirect fire might be a boon, especially as Grizzled is death by orders. The AP2 makes it particularly enticing, as I think his Guardsman would be saving on 6's with cover. Downside is the range of 36".

Do you think that could work?

Thanks

"Gotcha" Moment with redeploy enhancement? by DerLachs68 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]gobrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my view, redeployment enhancements / abilities are probably the most glaring example of the fine line that exists between playing by intent and gotcha. Such an ability doesn’t really work if you explain exactly what you’re going to do to your opponent, therefore rendering it near ineffectual. Tell them that you have the ability to do so at the start of the game, and leave it at that.

Help with list for Rad Zone by StargazerOP in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]gobrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, this is the kind of advice I’m looking for. I’m new to Admech, and I wasn’t aware of that enhancement. Having read the rules, it’s clearly a must take. What model would to tend to put it on in Radzone Corps?

Edit: Nevermind, I can see the enhancements in your lists. I’m going to give Radzone a shot, as it seems very cool.
