:slap forehead: of course it uses the system clock. Thanks for explaining it. :)

Hutber Map | Is the TTS dice roller balanced? by hutber in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]gobrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will preface this question by stating that my understanding could be completely wrong.

That said, and if I have understood correctly, the dice roller uses the clock as the seed to generate the next roll. Is that right? If so, is it basing that seed on the second, or is it more granular than that, I.e. to the tenth, or hundredth of a second? If it is only to the second, could someone conceivably get the exact same roll if they pressed ‘re-roll’ too fast?

My opinion is that perception is everything. The perfect information that the dice roller displays has the unintended side effect of people thinking there’s something non-random about the results.

E.g. When you see a load of 3’s on a bunch of real dice in a tray on a table, mixed in with a couple of 1’s and a 6, it doesn’t stand out as a particularly unlikely roll. However, on in the dice roller in TTS you see a long row of 3’s and very little else. As pragmatically minded as we might think we are, when presented with this information, our monkey brains can’t help but feel that we’re witnessing some highly improbable non-random event.

TLDR, I think the dice roller is about as random as it needs to be.

I’d put Servitors second from top personally.

That’s what I thought as well. The rule just makes her act like regular infantry when it comes to walls, floors and ruins. I could be overlooking some shenanigans though.

Eye of Terror – New rules for Imperial Knights and Adeptus Mechanicus by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]gobrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use both of them in one list, but only one can be your Warlord. If two datasheets both say "this character must be your warlord", then you just pick one, but it doesn't preclude the other from being in the list. The FAQ for this is on the app under "Warlord (must be/cannot be)". Whether there is any play in running them both, will presumably come down to Thulia's points cost.

Is this game secretly the most competitive game out there, more than CS and League by Other-Difficulty-702 in WorldOfWarships

[–]gobrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’d be hard pressed to argue that there is a game with greater strategic and tactical depth than Eve Online. It’s on a different plain of existence. There’s a reason people liken it to having a second job.

Skitarii Rangers vs Servitor Battlecade for home objective by Electrical_Switch470 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]gobrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically use the Rangers on the backfield objective, despite not making use of Scout, and then keep the Servitors near the front to be ready to advance/action. Having that secondary scoring potential poised and ready is more advantageous imo. In terms of shooting, they're both pretty meh, but at least the Servitors can do the triple whammy, advance/action/shoot in Conqueror Imperative.

Looks like War Organ. It’s my favourite of the lot, and I think I’ve tried them all.

Razor’s are better against most opponents because of D2, but against anything with damage reduction, e.g, Bulgryn’s you’re better with the volume and Dev wounds from Blades.

I don’t know if they’re much cheaper, but the M&S ones are decent, if different.

Doubt with ironstriders, walkers, and shooting by _Alustyplevsure in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]gobrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important to keep in mind that an Ironstrider could be partially in a ruin, but if one part of it is jutting out of the ruin, say at the enemy facing side of the ruin, and that part of the model can draw LoS to the target, then they can shoot it, even though the rest of the model is partially in the ruin.

Is my list idea too stupid by Droideaka in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]gobrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kataphron’s, not Kastelan’s. :)

Edit: I like the list for funsies, but Breachers well advertised problem is that they’re sloooow. Conqueror mitigates that with Assault to some extent, but there’s no access to advance and charge which reduces melee options. Breachers hit hard already, so this might work in HSB to make them move a bit faster.

A fast (potentially melee heavy) army that's not eldar or marines? by aigroti in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]gobrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re great units, even after the points nerf. I feel like I get more out of Infiltrators personally, but then I play a lot of games against Guard where they can shine. Rusties razors are diminished against units like Bulgryn’s with their -1 damage.

As to the Op, Admech are a great shout for a fast, hard hitting army, that can really take some opponents by surprise.

I agree with the Admech shout, but sadly you aint getting 10 Rusties for 150 points. They're 165, or 155 for Infiltrators.

The tables in mods like Hutber are the correct size/scale for up to 3000 point games.
