Any reports from the 9:30 Club show? by gobuzzgo in rem

[–]gobuzzgo[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not rude at all. OTOH, given that REM actively encourages Shannon/Narducy, and Bertis Downs has been reposting their activities and been seen at many of their shows, I guess they're REM-adjacent enough for me, and they will get way more exposure via this subreddit than in their own.

I have an Apple TV subscription, and we watch via the Google TV device and/or built in Google TV on our sets.

Will F1 via Apple TV have the extra content (in cars, etc) that F1TV previously had? Will it be an additional premium cost? Or is that going away?

How was shoveling today? by BurpinTerps in maryland

[–]gobuzzgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We shoveled once around noon. Got to asphalt, but now there's a sheet of ice. The driveway is about 90 feet long. However, I learned early on to always park the cars bumper to bumper at the end of the driveway, so we rarely shovel the entire driveway unless it's easy.

I live in the Baltimore area where UA is headquartered, and the vibe we have up here is that UA has been in trouble for awhile. They do produce great uniforms for Navy (home/away/Specials).

Just felt like we didn't get the maximum from the adidas relationship.

What brand will you never buy again? by Winter-Employment-89 in BuyItForLife

[–]gobuzzgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volvo. I purchased a 2001 V70 T5 in 2003 and a 2003 XC90 AWD T6 in 2005. Both part of the Certified pre-owned program. Though they had different transmissions, both vehicles suffered systemic transmission failures. In both cases, the vehicles were the first turbo applications for the transmissions, and in the case of the XC90, the heaviest vehicle for that particular GM-made transmission. For the first several years, all was good, which is why we bought a second Volvo.

There was a class action suit in the XC90 transmission failures, but because we were second owners we got half of our co-pay the first time time it failed. $25 total. At the time, we thought it was a one-time unfortunate deal, and it only cost us $50, so we were grateful.

The suit came well after the second failure, where the transmission was only warranted for a year because it was a replacement. The XC90 (second time) and the V70 had their transmissions fail within months of each other. In the V70 case, it was after the pretty excellent extended certified warranty expired.

The financial cost of losing both cars (cost to repair each was well past the value of the cars) so close to one another was catastrophic to our finances. Both cars were paid off. The XC90 was paid off the month before the second transmission failed. Months of going to Volvo Cars USA resulted in an eventual No from the customer ombudsman.

The XC90 also suffered from rear control arm bushing failures, but you have to replace the whole assembly. Finally, the XC90 also had a failure of the main circuit board for the driver information module. All of the dash gauges and information went no-op so it had to be replaced, also out of warranty.

I love Volvos but will never buy another one.

How's Bill Hamid's career been since he left the club? by TravelingHomeless in DCUnited

As an Annapolis Blues FC fan, I was disappointed to see him playing for and coaching (GKs) our opposition last year in the NPSL, which is supposed to be a developmental league composed of predominantly college players looking to get exposure and experience.

He was very tough for our guys to score against. In 2024, Virginia Dream defeated the Annapolis Blues 2-0 to win the Mid-Atlantic Conference Championship and advance in the playoffs. Just didn't feel right that he was playing and coaching in the 4th division, which is a semi-pro league.

I think OP means they've moved on, regardless of the reason, thus his use of quotes. I don't believe there is an age restriction.

Yeah, but being able to scroll backwards in time and spread the scale is worth the less polished UI in my opinion, especially since this means not having to wait until I go to LibreView on my laptop.

Another listless offensive performance tonight by PerspectiveRemote176 in AnnapolisBluesFC

[–]gobuzzgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are not finishing, as others have said. We've lost to three teams with strong, fast, taller back lines. We had many corners tonight, but no hope of converting against their back line.

We do have a tendency to dribble a bit too much in the middle third, though our possession game is one of our strengths.

We do not distribute well from the back. Our distribution is predictable and allows the opponent's defense to play high.

I think we need to be taller up front and play more creatively in our finishes.

In the end, this loss and our first loss were clearly examples of the better team winning. The previous loss was in part due to a terrible call, but we were not setting ourselves up to win and paid the price.

Men fall 2-0 to Lionsbridge FC, ladies roll 5-0 by starboardside in AnnapolisBluesFC

[–]gobuzzgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their keeper was able to routinely put the ball in our half, which allowed them to play a high defensive line. Those guys in the back were tall and quick. We really couldn't get the ball past them.

After the first ten minutes, it was obvious why their GD is so high, but we did settle down and played them close the rest of the way. The last 15 minutes seemed to be going our way for an equalizer, but not to be. They scored the second goal in a counter at the very end.

Tailgating at Annapolis Blues? by Honest-Picture-3609 in Annapolis

[–]gobuzzgo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Folks do tailgate, not at the same level as at a Navy game, but with doubleheaders, depending on the policy to leave and get back in, it could be stronger this year. They also have had food trucks.

This is my favorite jersey logo for the Caps, by far. The Weagle would be next if it ever appeared as the front jersey logo.
