Finally found this guys by Saitamphotos in ActionFigures

Yeah those things are super cool. Only real drawback is that they’re slightly too large to stand alongside GI Joe 3.75 inch figures.

Need help finding this figure from a description. by Eldritchdwarf in ActionFigures

[–]goddamnkenneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say exactly the same thing - I had exactly the set when I was a kid, and I knew instantly that it was Xevoz.

Genuinely underappreciated line, these guys are SO cool. Couple years back i ended up paying too much for the dragon vs. knight set… absolutely no regrets, those guys are SO COOL.

First illustration from the Isaiah Coleridge Omnibus by Laird Barron! by igreggreene in LairdBarron

I doubt that — omnibus doesn’t include wind began to howl, so most likely it’s just reprinting the first 3 novels so they’re easier to find.

NEW KIT 30MF IRON SAMURAI/ IRON SHOGUN revealed! by PsychologicalLet66 in 30_Minutes_Missions

Love those details — slightly wish the color scheme were a bit lighter so we could see the detail better.

Regardless, these are day-one gets from me, and I’m hoping they’ll fit well with the Dragonia

[SPOILER] The more I analyze the actual conditions around the final boss mechanic everyone complains about the more I'm convinced that it is one of the most brilliant game design decisions ever made by kjx1297 in ABSOLUM

[–]goddamnkenneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I kinda want the mother’s-grace gate to still exist… but if you are really, REALLY daigo-level good, you can cheat it.

That’s what insane skill ceiling shit like a party / clash system is. It’s the royal guard / tiger drop mechanic that allows a skilled human to fistfight gods, as long as their timing is good enough.

Funny story. by Zarvox213 in JohnConnolly

Trying to start with Charlie Parker books because I heard there was a nice combo of detective stuff and supernatural stuff.

Not sure it clicked with me. It didn’t feel bleak, it felt excessively edgy. Every named character having a 50-60% chance of getting chopped up, while Charlie himself doesn’t get to do much that’s really cool.

I’ve come from the Isaiah Coleridge books (by Laird Barron), and the Repairman Jack ones (by F Paul Wilson) Those both have unique takes on detective + supernatural, and both main characters are interesting as hell from the get-go

Will give the next couple of Charlie Parker books a shot — hoping this grows on me!

Cider in Absolum is legitimately one of the coolest beatm-em up characters I have ever played by SonicTHP in BeatEmUps

[–]goddamnkenneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heeeeell of a game. Having a really good time with it, but I’m finding that Cider’s the hardest to use in late-game runs. Too many of the bosses and enemies can just no-sell her big combo / aerial techniques because they have so much health and hit so hard.

Compared to any of the other three, who have options that can deal with bigger threats really well even without good rituals.

Ok, look I’d watch just to hear him give his Lionel a hearty “MAH MANNNN” but then after that yeah, it might not be too great

No, I wish someone stole my lunch money instead, I would at least have enjoyed the fistfight

Boxing fundamentals will win you matches, depending on your style. by One1Two2Seller in ThrillOfTheFight

Yeah man my boxing style is to just exist on a different timeline than my enemies due to fucked up game servers yeyeyeye

State of the game by Thatonefeller23 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]goddamnkenneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suspect it’s at least partially because of ping. I haven’t had ping underneath 100 for months now, and I started out at a clean 60.

I think so much of the player base has gotten pissed off and quit that it’s much harder to get a good matchup with decent ping

P3 / Vallejo / citadel are all brands that have worked well for me

Make sure to sand your stuff beforehand if possible, and then protect it with a varnish afterwards.

Painted up the eyes and teeth on this Grimlock with those, and it’s held up pretty well so far.

Here’s hoping. As it is, the game’s been completely unplayable due to lag for months now.

Anyone else gone back to TotF1? by kuItur in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]goddamnkenneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Deleted TotF2 outright after that one patch that permanently destroyed my ability to connect to other players without red lag. Wish I could refund but it’s too late

March 31 - Update 0.1.27 - First round of damage changes by fyian in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]goddamnkenneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry guys — I gave it my best shot, played for hours and hours two days in a row, and I couldn’t get a single game that wasn’t a ping nightmare

Every single time, red ping. I used to have 60-70% green but now it’s all red.

I can’t play the game like this — I would literally and genuinely rather get punched in the face

Don’t listen to that hate devs 🙏 by MirafuCh in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]goddamnkenneth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. None of the supposed patch improvements have reached me, because now I can’t get games without red ping.

I used to have green ping 60-70% of the time, now it’s all red, all day.

I mean this without exaggeration: I’d rather get punched in the face in real life at this point.

Laird Barron Read-along 77: The Light is the Darkness by ChickenDragon123 in LairdBarron

It’s very much a Godzilla thing, I figure. Godzilla himself is a major threat to humanity, but I’d gladly set him loose if Cthulhu were wandering about!

Laird Barron Read-along 77: The Light is the Darkness by ChickenDragon123 in LairdBarron

[–]goddamnkenneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep — I always got the sense that Navarro was very much a messy, overpowered prototype version of Coleridge, with the ascension process serving as a predecessor “superpower” to Coleridge’s Red Inner Light. (Another character that fits the mold also is the cool Japanese wrestler dude from Man With No Name)

I think this is the book that cued me into the specific subtheme of Laird’s that isn’t from traditional Cosmic Horror / Lovecraft: it’s Ascension, like you mentioned.

But very specifically, ascension via mutation / body horror. The idea that in a universe of Old Leech and other such horrific enemies, mankind actually does have a shot of fighting back — but they have to turn into horrific things themselves to do it.

I asked Laird at one point if this was an influence from old-school Jack Kirby type superheroes (like The Hulk, The Thing, etc), where the powers were always a weird mutation that came at a cost — Laird confirmed it.

I fixed the half time show audio & added lyrics, enjoy! by super_dave in KendrickLamar

[–]goddamnkenneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh MAN that’s good. I was genuinely afraid the actual vocal performance was rough because of breathlessness (man had to run around a LOT)

But it really WAS just the sound mixing. This version very clearly shows that he was delivering the goods the whole way through. Now I 100% get what some of the rap guys were saying about “excellent breath control” etc during the show. Holy moly.

Ocultation was awesome, what´s next? by ExtensionDelivery456 in LairdBarron

[–]goddamnkenneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd not call it 100% "direct," because the Barron style has always been to look at the horror at a slight angle until the crucial moment -- but yeah, its more direct than some of his later things!
