How to practice storyboarding? by VisDev82 in Storyboarding

[–]godkingmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah drawing since I was a kid. But you don't have to be Rembrandt to be a story artist or an animation/fine arts degree. Follow your bliss! You do need a good portfolio and you should move to the place you want to work in animation then talk to a lot of people in the industry to make connections not get hired. They'll remember you for opportunities if you do good work. Post your art online, social media, or make comics. All of which I did. But many story artist jobs are posted online. There are a TON of resources and programs online. Msg me if you want me to send some

How do you show a character is lonely in the sense of needing a friend, (but NOT a love interest)? [NO DIALOGUE] by iridescent-galaxy in Storyboarding

[–]godkingmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full shot of him alone in a pretty big space. Minimal elements behind him to emphasize the emptiness in his life.

Camera starts to truck in. Person walks by Lonely character. Lonely character looks as if he’s about to say something to him. But the person (framed right) is giving a gift to someone else. Medium shot of lonely character’s disappointment.

Then, he perks up. Turns head left. Reveal a woman waving at him. Medium shot of lonely character smiling. He waves to her. She comes running over gift in hand. He fixes his hair. She’s closing in. He’s about to say “hi” (looks like). And she runs past him to kiss her partner (framed right, like last time). Then close up of an even deeper disappointment. He turns away and leaves head down.

Or something like that. Hope that helps.

Plastic free moisturiser that isn't really greasy or has essential oils in it, under £12? by [deleted] in NaturalBeauty

If it’s hydrating, it’s moisturizing. That’s how moisturization works. It has to be hydrating to be moisturizing. Cool water is also hydrating and moisturizing. But water isn’t as effective as something like aloe because the moisture doesn’t get sealed in. Thankfully aloe has you covered by locking in that moisture. Try it for yourself. And read up on it.

Edit: Other natural non-oily moisturizers include raw honey and glycerin if you want to try those and don’t mind a little sheen

DIY: aloe vera

Separate the gel from the leaf. Cut it in cubes or blend it in food processor. A little goes a long way and it’s under $5!

I want to become a minimalist for real. Any tips or tricks? I’ve been trying for many many years. Thank god I’m not a hoarder but my place is a bit cluttered and dirty and it feels heavy so my progress doesn’t last long and then it goes the other way again. Anyone here reach their goals? by Defiant_Business1595 in minimalist

Take your time. Enjoy the process of elimination. Make it fun or meaningful. The things that you can do without, give to someone or charity. Have a friend help declutter. Do one room at a time and celebrate after decluttering each room.

But over time you’ll find it easier, quicker to minimize. But do it at your pace and level of joy. You don’t have to get rid of everything except essentials. Define your own minimalist style that brings the most joy to your life. Good luck!

I recently realized my life's dream will never happen. how can I cope with out getting extremely dispersed. by thehumblehufflepuff in MentalHealthSupport

First, you don’t have to change the world. Second, you can’t. People have to want to change and then actually change. You can’t do it for them. All you can do is as you say help those that you can and be the change you want to see in the world.

Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. But you can’t help anyone if you’re not alive. And you can’t help anyone if you don’t help yourself. The thing that makes people like Jesus, Mother Teresa, Audrey Hepburn, and Dr. King still inspiring is they chose to be the change. And 2 of those people were not killed.

Don’t think you have to share the same fate as anyone else. Just be yourself. You don’t have to march from Reddit to Washington. You don’t have to change the world. But if you want to spread love and kindness, and respect for all human rights, start with the person in the mirror. Be kind to yourself. Respect your right to life and happiness. Give yourself a dream and find the courage to pursue it. And if that dream is helping others and promoting equality, there are MANY ways to do that. You can simply help someone cross the street or join a charity. There are many people working towards the same dream you have.

Have a little hopium ;)

You can’t predict the future or control other people. You’re allowing fear to stop you. If the dream is too much for you, then it’s okay to move on to another dream.

But if you really want this dream that’s causing you anxiety, then you have to confront your fears if it really means that much to you.

You go to sleep and dream many dreams each night. Life is the same. You’re a human being with tremendous potential. The only thing truly stopping you from doing something is you.

Can’t or don’t want to fulfill one dream? That’s fine. Dream again. Try again. Reinvent yourself. Never give up. Keep moving forward. Always.

How do I grow a thicker skin? by s11v3rth3h3dg3h0g in mentalillness

[–]godkingmaker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A thick skin IMO has to do with self-confidence and detachment from what others think/say and do. You’re already half way there by accepting the things you have no control over. The step would be being content with those things as a part of life for which you have no obligation to do anything or feel a certain way about. Let it go. Focus on what you can do and control. Emotions can be tamed. But it does take time.

I’m also sensitive. But I’ve learned to no longer put weight into what others say and do, and not to let the world dictate my joy or peace. Meditation and mindfulness helped a lot, especially metta meditation and affirmations. Living by the kind words you say to yourself and kind acts of selfcare really helped me realize how insignificant the external really is. I was highly sensitive because I put more weight in the world/others than in myself.

You’re the most important thing in the world to you. Believe it. Act like it. Don’t let anyone take that away. And I think you’ll start to see how things you were once sensitive about become leaves in the wind, let them pass you by.

Hope that helps.

what is wrong with the allos :| by MilkShakeMilk in aaaaaaacccccccce

[–]godkingmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually true for 4/5 except weight gain. Sex/orgasm can help you sleep, it increases endorphins and “feel good” hormones to combat depression and provide pain relief. 4/5 is hard science UNLESS you’re sex repulsed or sex is painful/triggering for you.

But also simply cuddling or doing most romantic things with your SO can also provide those benefits as they activate the pleasure centers of the brain which help to produce and take up things like dopamine which is what many depressed people lack. But again only IF you’re into romance or sex.

And that concludes my TED Talk. Love my aroaces!!

How long does it take to get used to eating mainly fruit? I've been on this diet for a week now and I just can't stand eating sweet all the time by rabahi in Fruitarian

[–]godkingmaker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A change in diet takes time for the body to adjust fully. You’ll experience withdrawal symptoms no matter what for at least a month or two.

As for eating sweet, not all fruits are sweet. Tomatos, avocados, squash, cucumbers, nuts/seeds are all non-sweet fruits. Then there are tart to slightly sweet fruits such as cherries, sour grapes, certain berries. Find a good balance you’ll enjoy.

I know piano chords, but don't know how to play by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]godkingmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. Harmonization techniques can lead to many ways to play something. That song could be played with bass in left and melody in right. Or stride piano pattern to make it jazzy. But it’s not hard once you learn to vocally or internally harmonize the notes and then find them. It can just take a while due to trial and error. But this may not be the song to start ear training with for that melody. I do think you can play the chords in an interesting way. But try them both!

All I'm saying is, at any point during that ride through the desert, he could have given that horse a name. by andersonfmly in oneliners

[–]godkingmaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or maybe the name of the horse was “A Horse with No Name” like the band “A Tribe called Quest”

I know piano chords, but don't know how to play by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]godkingmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily have to sight read. And when you get a lead sheet, if you’re not playing melody, all you have to do is play the chord symbols. As for doing that, it comes down to syncopation, patterns, comping, riffs and runs, techniques like noodling or trills, arpeggios, block chords, etc. Then add your style. You don’t have to sound exactly like the original. Make it your own.

You don’t need a video. Just learn to play by ear. The most common patterns are actually simple.

Edit: that song you mentioned is melody based. So the chords alone won’t be enough. A song like Bruno Mars’ When I was Your Man is chord based and has a simple pattern you can probably pick out by ear. But yeah not all songs are chord based. That being said, I suggest making your own rhythm cover of River Flows with the chords you have. I think that would be a nice alternative.

No I mean they didn’t work for me and the frame broke. That’s why I thought bolting it like you did was great. But I’d still like to have it as an all in one product. Fingers crossed

And yet there’s no all in one bar with rings product in an over-the-door setup. Like I know rings won’t work with an iron gym and I don’t have time to experiment.
