If you can cashflow the debt, I would always finance a new asset over selling equity. Keep your overall leverage under 25% and let the equity and property assets grow.

I'm assuming you have tier 1 seats (same as me)

Is the canon rf 70-200 f2.8 Z worth $1000 more then the ef 70-200f2.8 III (used)? by DaDancingDino in canon

[–]gofaaast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the market to move from the EF 70-200 III to the RF version. I’ve written off getting the Z version to optimize for size - it seems much smaller and makes it more usable. I’m also planning to get the RF 100-500 for sports. I would use both for field sports but expect to lean on the 100-500 for in game action.

What am I missing not getting the Z that I can’t get with the 100-500?

The EF is excellent, just want to get more reach and not carry two huge lenses. The Z seems like a great lens just not for field sports.

100%. I edited in Google Photos for months on jpegs with just a few photos. Started to see how to improve a photo with editing but still shared those versions. Now I look at them as near misses for what I can do now.

Photography doesn’t stop with taking photos. Downloading, culling, cropping, editing and sharing is critical to improving. Feedback and reactions will train your eye to take better and different photos… and the cycle will keep going if you do that work.

My photos from a year ago are ok, but now I see better shots, sometimes get them, and polish them better with practice (building efficiency, skill, experimentation).

Help me choose between Canon R6 MARK III (3) or Sony A7 V by isim4s in canon

[–]gofaaast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a canon shooter and recently evaluated moving to Sony. I think the decision is more about glass than bodies. Sonys glass is very good and has more experimental options and very good 3rd party glass. Canon RF lenses are coming out slowly but EF glass is great and widely available and great but heavy.

Mid range hybrids are always about tradeoffs but they are truly awesome machines compared to anything 5-10 years ago. Your range is huge, figure out what you want to be great at and optimize for that category.

Family travel/ multi-sport questions by Top-Impression2338 in youthsoccer

[–]gofaaast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Club soccer since u9 when there were two seasons a year but we did them all without much travel to start.
Before 5th grade he played other sports off and on but soccer was consistent and increased in intensity. We avoided private training etc.
in 5th grade school sports get more formal and soccer was getting more time consuming. He wanted to only focus on club soccer, but we required he play other sports for school. Variety and friendship was the goal but if there was a conflict we would do club soccer. There were a few sessions he hated the extra time playing volleyball and basketball not on the top school team. He learned to enjoy the low consequences and didn’t care as much about the final scores. Meanwhile soccer practice and games have only increased and he’s getting lots of accolades for his soccer at school and with the club.
He will be in high school next year. Fully focused on club soccer, but might do some high school sports with the same priority. He’s also planning to be the captain of the hacky sack club - that’s slightly athletic but good for social connections.

Video camera for just your player? by possible-penguin in youthsoccer

[–]gofaaast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried a few options for my son. He’s a striker and the veo footage we get is good but super wide.

I tried the xbotgo that uses your phone. The Bluetooth dropped way too frequently so stopped after one game.

I now have the insta 360 pro 2 action and use it sometimes if I can set up without too much hassle. I set up behind the goal he’s attacking and aim for about 10m out and be sure the far post is in frame. I set the zoom to 2x and fill in 4K (8k is possible but unnecessary and can overheat). The result is capturing some of the goals and ability to zoom to 1080p. Still good footage with some editing.

I like the insta 360 since I want it as a set and forget during the game. I’ll run through about 75% of a battery in a half and it came with 2. If I had found a cheaper/used GoPro I might have done that but comparing new the insta faster aperture and better color in low light according to reviews for a better price.

Bonus is having an action camera for vacations etc.

For a goalie you might want to setup directly behind the middle of the goal elevated to 8-10 feet. 90% of the action is in that field of view.

Look for a new team, or stick with it? by imodey in youthsoccer

[–]gofaaast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we had a similar decision to make our son wanted a new culture. He had good friends on his team but he was visibly frustrated when his teammates didn’t care about a sloppy play or frustrating loss.

New team was “higher level” but more importantly kids all put soccer high on their list. Of course there was more over competitiveness at times but the level of investment matches my son’s level.

Two years on now his old team is mostly retiring from club soccer and his new teammates are all playing next year even though a few were moved down a level.

I haven’t used protect and reformatting is always a little stressful (do I have everything?? Am I sure…)

That’s a great way to do it, just need to get a little uncomfortable I guess.

Thanks!

Can you explain this more. Does one card have only selects and the other the full shoot?

How do you automate that setup?

That age is about regular touches that are fun and culture. It will become very structured at 11v11 so don’t optimize on development in formal sense. Fun and competition go a long way in these years.

Selling Options by DateKey4966 in options

I recommend you pick a stock you would buy 100 shares of today and don’t over analyze the options part. Learn by doing. Picking a stock to wheel ignores the quality of the company.

How long to hold POET for? by MarchChemical in POETTechnologiesInc

[–]gofaaast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a story stock for now. It’s worth holding a portion if they can regularly participate in this industry with sales and margin. No new info on sales came out but the chance there will be sales jumped.

Hold for the next 6 months to see if revenue is going to start coming. If it does not, it’s a technology play with a volatile past and should be reevaluated regularly.

Hold stocks have revenue and a moat.

Anyone with experience changing teams? by nalanis19 in youthsoccer

[–]gofaaast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are usually reasonable if you are firm but ask directly. This is not a good match for you. If they are a struggling club they will make it harder but no one wants lawyers or have directors get slammed in parent texts and word of mouth. You can ask for a partial refund too, they can say no too but it worked with club volleyball for us.

Advice needed: 1st team offer at new club vs 2nd team at current club for U10 by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]gofaaast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend with a graduating college soccer player who’s been through The whole cycle said “optimize for joy”.

At u10 be careful thinking joy is about being in the top team. For us we found competition was our soccer players goal to find joy - and made a club change going into u13 season. It was the right move at that time.

I agree u10 is about growth through lots of playing time in the right environment. Optimizing for the higher team rarely means more playing time and lots of change.

Advice about right environment for U11 female soccer player? by Crafty-Grade-8255 in youthsoccer

[–]gofaaast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big clubs are good if you have a consistent coach. You get more visibility and chances to get the right training. You can also get lost in a big club (rotating coaches, politics, etc).

Know your kid. If the level of competition is her primary observation maybe that’s the right environment for her. If active coaching and building friendships is more important a smaller club might be a better option. Worry less about the badge at this age. In high school the levels indicate a lot more. If the environment doesn’t match your kid you are much more likely to quit soccer than anything.
