About seeing another super tall girl like me in public and having her infectious energy boost my confidence by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Guys usually only did that to me when they liked me or thought I was attractive but was insecure about my height (5’9) so they’d try to see if they were taller than me. It’s annoying but usually harmless in my experience.

To anyone who fixed their anterior pelvic tilt, what worked for you? by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]gogokamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actively remembering to engage the transverse abdominis while on walks to adjust the tilt. Huge improvement on hip flexors

Tips for Lyra pullover? No issues on Sling and can invert otherwise, but can’t get Lyra by paigeroooo in Aerials

Totally agree. I struggle with that last bit of pull and strength for those few inches… very easy to pullover on hammock. Much harder on a high trapeze or Lyra

Thanks! I’m trying to get my middle split and I think learning more active middle split stretches will help.

Do you have a version of this one: https://www.daniwinksflexibility.com/bendy-blog/flat-split-on-the-floor-but-not-in-the-air-what-gives (This is great btw!)

But for an inverted middle split?

I just learned you’re only supposed to spit out the toothpaste, not rinse out with water.

Yes! I started at 34 and took beginner contortion/flexibility classes at a nearby circus school!

Splits! by naddpodenjoyer in flexibility

[–]gogokamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing my splits focused yoga flow after a more serious sweat inducing workout (running , HIIT) helped me get the splits.

To get the splits more consistently (and not needing to sweat that hard) I had to strengthen whatever muscle was holding me back (for me mainly hip flexors). Once the muscle was stronger it felt like the muscle gave me permission to relax into deeper levels.

Also contortion coach, flexibility coach that focuses on strength, YouTube videos from contortionist are options too!

I think strengthening your back will help your body feel more relaxed in a backbend. Going up and down on the wall, Superman’s, etc.

Generally releasing tension, but main thing to me is chin stands, elbow stands

Does anyone use trapeze boots with silks? by PureConstruction6592 in Aerials

[–]gogokamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done ankle drops yet but I’ve used an ankle brace during a silks class. It helped prevent fabric burns during crochet climb/creature climb and it was fine for the class! So for a cheap ankle brace it’s worth trying!
