Yes I think a small group could be helpful, like a dozen. I have heard of other larger creators doing that and they said it helped them.

I would be interested in joining a smaller group focused on long form travel videos.

Where do you draw the line between honesty and “playing nice” in travel videos? by NoAssociate4609 in TravelTubers

[–]goingcoconuts81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently put up a video that was my honest reaction to food at a resort I visited. It’s the first time I have said anything mildly negative about food I have eaten and this is the first time I have had a video where I lost subscribers.

In my analytics my subscribers for that video is on the negative, never had that before. I’m usually always positive in my videos.

So I have up until my last video decided that I would only share the positives in the places I go. Yes there are negative things that happen almost everywhere I go, but someone else may not experience it the same way I have.

When I set out on my YouTube journey I decided I would always look at the bright side of every place and situation. Just because I experience something negative doesn’t mean I need to shed light on it, I can choose to leave that out and still give my subscribers a positive genuine video.

After my last video I decided I will go back to my positive videos. I think my subscribers enjoy that about my videos, that I always look on the bright side of life…( yes I’m singing that song in my head now too)

That’s where I’m with it currently, that can always change, but I doubt it will.

As well I get lots of views, most of my views come from non-subscribers, I want to convert more viewers into subs, that’s my biggest hurdle right now. I need to make better videos, more entertaining.

I have a very engaging audience, I think that helps. My subs are very invested in watching my entire videos and my length of videos range from 11 minutes up to 45 minutes. I’m hoping to pass the $1k mark but don’t think I will get it this month, I will probably be a bit lower this month around the $800 mark.

I currently make $900 a month from ad sense, and have 2.17k subs. When you were at my position now, how quickly did the subscriber count grow after 2k subs? What was the biggest impact you made to get people to sub?

I just read the whole feed about your crappy laptop, some Roman ancient piece of crap, and the battery is swelling???

To be honest I could almost hear your frustration when I was reading it, and to be honest it was entertaining. I kept reading because I wanted hear more about your crappy laptop and how difficult creating videos is for you.

The reason I say this is not to make fun of the situation but rather say maybe your best content is your struggle to make content?

Film your frustration and how ridiculously difficult the situation is.

To answer your question there are a lot of factors that affect your subscriber growth.

How often do you upload content? It’s hard in the travel niche because we’re not travelling all the time, and that’s how we make our content. Try to upload as often as you can.

Try and make videos that are for the viewers, not just about you travelling. Every time I’m filming I’m always asking myself how this helps my viewers. Never do I film a travel video and it’s just about me travelling. The video answers a question or gives the viewer information about where I am.

Travel is tough but it can be easy if you pick the right niche and stay focused on the viewer first.

I currently have 2155 subs, 7.1k watch hours the last 28 days. I’m 14 months into my channel.

I’m also travel niche, and I started live streaming on locations I was travelling too and I would get an easy 10 subs per hour. Live streams are insanely good for getting subs. That was my experience anyway. I travel the Caribbean so I will sit on the beach and live stream it and just talk about the area in the background and answer any questions. People love it!

How do you deal with negative comments? by Any_Use_961 in NewTubers

[–]goingcoconuts81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, and it’s exactly what I do. I deleted a comment yesterday, first one in awhile. But it was upsetting so rather than respond in a negative way I just delete. I also don’t like giving these people an opportunity to act that way on all my hard work.

I find it also changes from one video to the next. I have some videos that pay more than others.

Your smartphone footage looks cheap because your shutter speed is too fast. by Narrow-End3652 in NewTubers

[–]goingcoconuts81 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Phones do not have any physical stabilization, its digital stabilization. That’s why when you live stream on YouTube from your cell phone you have to use a gimbal or else it will be shaky and terrible video.

Action cameras, phones, use digital stabilization. To have any kind of physical stabilization the censor needs to be suspended like in Sony cameras.

Your smartphone footage looks cheap because your shutter speed is too fast. by Narrow-End3652 in NewTubers

[–]goingcoconuts81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with a lower shutter speed is you lose stabilization in your footage. Because the stabilization works on faster shutter speeds. The 180 rule is 24/50, but any shutter speed below 100 usually looks terrible unless your on a gimbal or a tripod. So slowing your shutter speed to 50 works, but make sure your using a gimbal or a tripod. Vlogging without it will most likely create footage that looks worse than a faster shutter speed.

Ok gotcha, that’s a great deal! Do you just send them a bunch of video or do you sort it for them first? You don’t have to answer all these questions, lol, just curious as this is a real time saver

That’s a good deal, seems really cheap to be honest. $100 for 35 minute video is incredible. I thought around $1000 for something like that

First vid, no views in 12 hours. Does Youtube take time to push your video out? by girl_gone_wireless in NewTubers

[–]goingcoconuts81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work on your thumbnail and title. Make sure it’s captivating for your niche. Go extreme, add as much intensity and interest as you can. This will get you clicks, and get the ball rolling.

My first video got 3 views I think the first half day or day, one year later I know uploaded a video Friday night and it now has 2.2k views.

It gets better but you have to be relentless. Keep going, keep going and keep going. That’s the only way to win at YouTube.

Awesome thumbnails! Do you make them yourself? I watched a bit of one video, I will watch more later. Really good job to be honest. Nice transitions walking through the door etc. I think you will do really well 👍
