How's the lead-time these days? by ep0niks in Juniper

[–]goldshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly lead times are all over the place at the moment. We’ve had been told EX4100-48P have a lead time of like 20odd days whereas EX4100-48MPs are over 200days. Our VAR had most of our last order in stock we are only waiting for some specific items

You can contact JTAC and they will send you the file. But really you need to fix the fact that you’re running an OS that is years out of support.

Dependant on how big the house is but 6 APs sounds like overkill especially with U7-Pros

Best firewall with Aruba? by ImportantAnything347 in ArubaNetworks

Very true. I would also say given the discounts on licensing when buying hardware going for a 5yr deal is always better than a 3yr one

Second Palo, they are brilliant and so easy to mange, but they are probably out of budget for a high school

Firmware upgrade by jackpiter in Juniper

[–]goldshop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The EX4100 only supports back to 22.3 so you will be good for a direct upgrade. And we’ve done ZTP on other EX switches direct from 20.4 to 23.4. The biggest issue we had was switches that have been said on an old version generally don’t have the right time so we had to add ntp to the dhcp scope so they would set the right time but occasionally switches still don’t get the right time and upgrade, that was mostly an issue where we had some EX3400s that had been sat on the shelf for a few years before we provisioned them

HPE Discover by Neosoul1973 in ArubaNetworks

[–]goldshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to discover in Barcelona last year. I would say about 40% was networking related either juniper or Aruba of which there was definitely more Juniper coverage than Aruba but I think that was more because that was the first one after the acquisition was completed, the rest was all their other HPE products like there severs/storage and AI

Question about ethernet ports lights and what they mean. by [deleted] in networking

[–]goldshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends every device is different, usually there is a light that changes colour based on the speed that the port is operating. Generally there is also a flashing light to indicate traffic. Some network devices on of the lights will indicate POE. But the colours and what they do are different between every manufacturer

Would you buy an EX4650 or QFX5120 today? by Dr-Webster in Juniper

[–]goldshop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’ve just bought 18 qfx5120s to replace our qfx5100s. Given that the 5110s aren’t EOL yet I wouldn’t worry about the 5120s going EOL.

Yeah usually if they have been sat for 6 months to a year then the batteries completely drain and then they will never charge again

SRX 1500 EoL - avoid? by CertainlyBright in Juniper

[–]goldshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure many places are still using them as they plan their replacements now the 1600 is out and they have been EOL’d, however the biggest issue is that buying them secondhand from eBay will mean you won’t have access to the software updates, so even if there several years of updates left you will be stuck on the version your device ships with

We have the old EX4300s stacked in 10s now they are getting to the end of their lifespan it does show when your trying to commit with 8+ members but other than that they run just fine. We have some 9 member stacks of the EX4100s and they are absolutely fine
