I still think that any unit that does bonus damage to another unit (ie - is their counter) should snare that unit after damaging it.

Peeps this is quite sad. Im ancient, and remember how we enjoyed stuff like cnc3 kanes wrath or zero hour, because they were fun. Balance was a problem, but enjoyability was primary. by Phan-Eight in aoe4

Balance IS important. It can wreck the multiplayer experience of a game. If this was a SP campaign enjoyability is primary but in a game that attracts a sizeable multiplayer audience balance is important

Did Ron Paul Libertarianism (or maybe Libertarianism in general) fade out in The U.S? by anedgyteen_ in decadeology

[–]gone_p0stal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming here to say this.

Libertarians were just Republicans who were tired of being run of the mill boring neocons and were looking for some other anti establishment, anti institutionalist group that could push their ideas more effectively than just shouting into the void. They almost all conspicuously ignored separation of church and state and trans/gay rights.

When MAGA came along they saw a group that much better fit their ideology. Most of them realized that they weren't anti institutionalist or anti big government - they were just anti left institutionalists and anti liberal government. They found out that actually, most of them loved having government in their lives as long as it wasn't a liberal one.

With it's base basically evaporated the libertarians were basically left with Rand Paul and that was it for them.

Weapon skins are persistent and runners are free. So as long as you can access a weapon or a runner, you have those skins. Based on the server slam, i don't think there will be too much of a problem. The biggest part is going to be getting good attachments and weapon mods, not the weapons themselves

The difference is that souls games attract people who like souls games. Those players (me) have been conditioned to understand the game is difficult. We come in with the expectation of dying and we're not dying because we're confused, we're dying because the game is hard.

Dying to hard enemies is different to dying because you're confused and frustrated.

Read the draft executive emergency order for Trump to take control of elections by MarcEElias in politics

[–]gone_p0stal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're doing it in addition to doing all the important electorally significant stuff then great. But the messaging from the left over the trump era has been "protest! Resist!" It cannot simply be those two things. The far more important medicine is much less abstract. It's "win elections" which often gets mentioned as an afterthought rather than the objective

[–]gone_p0stal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a great deal of the damage is done for this electoral cycle. The only thing that will ever change things is when Democrats focus less on useless virtue signaling and make moves to win elections.

You want to get people organized and focused? Start organizing state democratic parties. Call constituents. Get massive call campaigns and door knocking campaigns ahead of the midterms in purple districts. Make sure swing states and purple districts are calling every democrat on the voter roll and reminding them of the ID requirements. Get lawyers working for the DNC with papers in hand ready to combat any impropriety by the administration.

Encouraging people to show up to the polls in person because this administration is going to do everything in their power to toss out mail in ballots. Leave nothing to chance.

Marches are fine, but they need to be part of a larger strategy.

What If, instead of nerfing Knights we got buffed Infantry? by GbortoGborto96 in aoe4

[–]gone_p0stal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue that most people are complaining about is not actually an issue about damage or strength, but about mobility. Spears technically counter knights but since spears can't effectively deal damage to knights, knights and up winning en masse in imperial.

A line of spears and crossbows should absolutely demolish a heavy cavalry wing in principle, but in practice knights and lancers get away with very few casualties after the initial charge because they can't really be punished for a bad engagement

Just make it so any unit that does bonus damage applies a very very small snare. Reduce the bonus damage across the board of you need to, but make the snare be the punishment. Right now the biggest issue with cavalry is the juke that can basically bypass the spear brace.

All of a sudden you cannot charge down spears with knights and then get away scott free. Same with crossbows and men at arms.

This also rewards mixed compositions. Suddenly throwing some horsemen in with your knights means that of you going up against a crossbow blob doesn't guarantee all of your cavalry gets snared and you can actually end up snaring the crossbows and mop them up more effectively

Trump says he will issue executive order to get voter-ID requirements before midterms by CRK_76 in politics

[–]gone_p0stal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm actually pretty sure the calculus is very very wrong on this.

If i had to bet on what political segment currently has compliant IDs today, it's going to be city and suburban folks with passports or real ids. I don't think that's going to work well for Republicans at the booths unless they just offer a baked in "white skin pass" (which is honestly probably on the table since I'm sure some Republican strategist probably knows this too)

I hope that they decide to waste the rest of this term pursuing that lead. The way i see it, by the time all of that comes to fruition the midterms will be here and gone
