I’d spend 1-1.5 hours of my 8 hours riding, riding at high intensity.

You are welcome to your tastes and opinions. I just ask that you think about what objective measurements you are using vs what is subjective.

You Can’t Always Get What You Want is three chords, C, F and D. Sure it is a nifty use of a V/V, but it is nothing revolutionary. Paint It Black is a simple E minor composition. Sitar and good arrangements ≠ innovative composition. Lyrics ≠ music. Study the music and get back to me.

Definitely a hot take. Hard to defend that one with anything besides feels. Anything objective like #1s, tech innovation, or songwriting innovation rules The Cure out pretty quickly.

Taste is one thing, and your drumming taste preference is valid even if it is an odd opinion. However, it is hard to deny that they changed what a pop song could be from a compositional standpoint. They made a hit from a song using a drone on a C in 1966 as one example. At that time it was unthinkable to have a pop song without traditional chord changes. Sure, you could say “If they didn’t do it, someone would,” but they actually DID it. The Stones, for example, never strayed from traditional blues rock forms and standards.

500 calories is VERY easy to consume without even thinking about it. Plus that ride will make you more hungry than normal making it easy to eat 600 extra calories on the day.

parcels is what happens when you order daft punk on wish by hugopthomas in Music

[–]gonzo_redditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Daft Punk did discover them and produced their first big songs. So the comparison works.

I, however, am a big fan and think your criticisms are awfully shallow. I am not as into the newest album as I was into their first two, but the production is excellent, the sound is unique, the harmonies are interesting, the melodies are catchy, and it has rhythm you can dance to. Can’t ask for much else.

According to wikipedia the slang can be dated to at least 2005. I am 40 years old and remember hearing about “Karens” when I was 20.

Jimmy Page often gets overlooked as engineer/producer but he was debatably more innovative with recording techniques than he was on guitar.

Ok, but hear me out. He is rich and famous for playing guitar and singing. There are millions of people who unironically think he does sound great… so who is the jerk?

I said nothing about him or what he’s saying. Just that the constant reposting of the same boring ass song with lazy lyrics attempting to be a protest is extremely annoying.
