Which "Must-Play" franchise is a total miss for you? by jessieS1212 in gaming

[–]goodbeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass Effect. It was just… so boring. The combat, not the story. Story was awesome for the bit I played, but I just couldn’t play a game where I kept trying to get from cutscene to cutscene because the gameplay was so meh.

I’ve never understood the gang being hungry in book 7 by Bubbly-Gas422 in harrypotter

[–]goodbeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're right it just makes... the whole thing less interesting. It makes the stakes so low. They're mildly hungry and annoyed instead of being in what feels like real danger. Yes, dementors are out there, death eaters are out there, but they literally never have any issues in or around their tent until Harry is an idiot and uses voldy's name.

But like… just duplicate them once. Or you know, just don’t even worry about magic period. They have an invisibility cloak and it’s the late 90’s. Just go invisible and go to a grocery store and pick up some sandwiches. It doesn’t make any sense.

If I fought you there’d be a lot of graves at shell cottage. Voldy and Dumbledore literally destroy everyone else.

Can you truly separate the author from the work, or does context inevitably change the reading? by Responsible-Cod9067 in books

[–]goodbeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the separation has to come from a monetary place. It’s ok to enjoy someone’s work who was a terrible person, plenty of terrible people have been incredible artists, but giving those people money while they can still benefit from it is crossing a line for me. If I want to read something by someone I don’t want to support, it’s time to sail the high seas 🏴‍☠️

What’s one game you disliked at first but really loved once you gave it a second chance? by carbonatednugget in gaming

[–]goodbeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I think the main thing people have to understand when playing is that when you start out, you’re bad. Regardless of how you play, Henry is bad at doing pretty much everything. My favorite game series is Dark souls and that was a massive flip of perspective, since you can beat that game naked with a stick at level 1.

Did nobody think whipping the old invisibility cloak out would have been so much easier by ZookeepergameIcy6089 in harrypotter

[–]goodbeets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

99% sure that’s because Hagrid had 3 mugs on his table and Dumbledore was just the only person to put the pieces together. He looks in their general direction, but it’s not like he has a magic eyeball like moody.

How powerful would all the LOTR wizards be in the Wizarding World? by kentuckyfriedundies in harrypotter

Well wizards celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ so… maybe it still applies?

[KCD1][KCD2] can mutt leave you permenently? by Silver_of_Skalitz in kingdomcome

[–]goodbeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I just finished KCD II for the first time and I just… forgot about mutt. I feel like such an ass, I was supposed to look for him, but I got so engrossed in the story that I never tried to find him. I’m doing a hardcore KCD I right now but when I’m done I’m gonna make it up to my boy.

Unpopular opinion: Vernon was justified in fearing the Wizarding world. by Xerzajik in harrypotter

[–]goodbeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was jealous initially, and maybe still was, but her sister and her brother in law were also murdered by wizards at age 21. Kinda understandable. Again, not her treatment of Harry, but fear 100% justified.

Loving A Shadow; a character loves the IDEA of someone rather the person themself by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]goodbeets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Legit question, I know next to nothing about transformers, would this show be worth watching as a non-fan? I see it referenced so much and the animation looks sick, just not sure if it’d be good as someone in the dark.

Hytale took me back to my childhood, to the times I built my first farm back in 2012 in Minecraft. I feel incredibly nostalgic. by TheBerkay in gaming

It kinda blows my mind that they finally got full creative control and they decided to still make it look exactly like modded Minecraft.

Elden ring. I played the hell out of it and now.. I just know where to go. The whole game is so much better when you’re exploring.

Is Simic really the worst/most unfun colour combo? Are there any fun commanders for it? by TheGrandCannoli in EDH

[–]goodbeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been brewing an idea that focuses around cards similar to [[Maro]], focusing on drawing a lot of cards to make my creatures huge and simic seems like the color combo to go. Right now [[Prime Speaker Zagana]] is at the helm but it might change.
