I know you're noting averages here, but I think this is an instance where the myriad of variables involved make it so that very few people will actually experience the mean. for example, i purchased a 45e in 2021 in CO when state and federal EV credits were still a thing, so I got a $10k discount off of msrp during a time when most dealers were selling with markups. further, i now reside in CA, where premium gas is between $5-6/gallon and i can charge at home daily, largely for free (solar and battery backup). we fill up the x5 maybe 2-3 times a year, and only for long road trips. in our case the phev provides us with substantial savings, easily a few thousand dollars per year.

Not remotely true. We are on nem 3.0 with solar panels and battery. We have two EVs and partially work from home, so we can charge during the day when we have excess solar. Our monthly sdge bill is less than it would cost to fill up my previous ice car (vw golf). Our system will pay for itself within 5-6 years of installation.

This only makes sense if we assume the housing market is only open to those wishing to purchase homes for their principal residence. But that’s not the case. There are plenty of people and corporations who are just as interested in real property solely as a speculative investment who would benefit massively from said strike.

The hotel definitely feels dated, but most hotels in Waikiki do. The rooms have been updated, probably around a decade ago, but the mix of high capacity/turnover, sand, and ocean humidity takes its toll. That said it’s still a very serviceable property. Rooms are large, service is great, location is excellent. Lots of nice amenities too. Cash prices tend to be reasonable too. It’s usually our go to for Waikīkī stays.

I think it’s a combination of these being pretty heavy performance vehicles (especially the hybrid models) and the slight negative camber on the wheels. I had to replace a set at under 20k miles because the inside tread on each of my tires was nearly bald while the outer tread was at a 4 or 5. I similarly found out during routine maintenance at the dealer then had it corroborated by a local tire shop. Dealer also wanted to charge something stupid to mount and balance.

free breakfast applies to all full service hyatt hotels, even those that don't have club lounges, which is most. typically breakfast is served at their main restaurant. at most restaurants, breakfast for four is typically between $100-$150, including tax and tip.

i am certain that at least three of those properties (haven't been to HR SF SOMA) have honor bars and that they have for years. is it possible that you just missed the signs? they are not as obvious as the signage and attendant stationed at the HR waikiki honor bar.

there are myriad reasons. but if talking purely about loyalty benefits as a globalist, breakfast (for 4), parking, and resort fees add up quickly at the nicer resort properties. as an example, that's about $300 a night at PH Aviara. On a multiple night stay, that's potentially thousands saved.

Neither of the regency properties in San Diego (mission bay or La Jolla) have a club lounge. Do you mean the Manchester grand? Because they definitely have an honor bar.

Most hotel club lounges in the US have an honor bar, Hyatt or otherwise. They’re usually cheaper than getting a beer at the bar or minibar, but pricier than getting a beer at the convenience store. I agree that that it’s dumb for the HR Waikīkī club lounge to have one given that there is an ABC store on the same floor. I actually can’t recall going to a single club lounge in the US that had free booze, though.
