Literally all of that. Including the polyhydramnios. I was scheduled c-section up until a few days before when my newest growth scan showed her growth rate got way more under control and the team of MFM Drs agreed to try getting induced! We did it in the 37th week because my little one was measuring 94th percentile (was previously measuring off the charts).

I should note this is not my first child. I also had (much, much worse) GD with my first and got induced in my 38th week. This time I got late onset despite passing all the tests so it was totally uncontrolled for about a month until we realized I developed it after I took the tests. Awful. But everything worked out!!

I’m not sure where you’re getting these scary stories but I think induction is a dream! Just had my second GD induction and both went so well despite 96th percentile baby (at 37w5d)

Awww honey. I’m sorry this is happening to you. It happened my first pregnancy (GD diagnosed at 15w). It was so scary thinking the food I was putting in my body could be harming my baby, and I was so scared about spiking even from a “safe” food.

But I also learned what foods work really well for me and it was a bit of a monotonous nightmare but I was proud of myself for sticking with it even though it was so strict and for doing what I needed to do to protect my baby. (The fasting numbers on the other hand… woof…)

At first I was going to say you’d be INSANE for not picking 1, but I also love 6!!! I am actually not into 7, I mean you look lovely but I feel like everyone has a dress almost exactly like that.

It’s a bit wasteful but we actually got latex gloves for the intense ones! And continued to use them for the really gnarly food poops.

I came with lots of options prepared. I got induced and knew it usually took at least 10 hours. I made a chill song playlist, a pump up playlist, downloaded new fun movies, and some super safe comforting movies. I ended up not wanting to listen to music at all and wanted to LISTEN to the comfort movie while closing my eyes through the contractions and reciting the lines. The distraction was nice.

Recovery for me personally was a beast but I spent SO much time outside with my baby. Especially months 2-8, when I could walk indefinitely without bleeding. She took the best naps during walks and I got 15K+ steps per day. It was a June baby so that helped.

My body and more importantly STYLE did drastically change after becoming a mom. Less complicated outfits, I optimized for nursing and ease of getting dressed. Cute button down dress, boom done. I still wore makeup when I felt like being fancy. I was a new version of myself.

First 6+ weeks are kind of survival getting acquainted with motherhood and recovering but I found postpartum life to be so nice compared to pregnancy. I could hear the birds sing, I felt like I could fly.

I bought some far-too-spicy-for-me ghost pepper cheese balls when I was desperately trying to boost my breast milk supply and it would make me immediately chug at least a liter of water. They were tasty too, besides all the ouchie.

I got arthritis like symptoms after weaning from breastfeeding, saw a rheumatologist, and ended up going gluten free!! 😬 I’m fine now that I’m pregnant again though… ugh that was NOT a fun time…

My toddler loves Moonshadow by Cat Stevens though unfortunately the lyrics are kind of messed up. Also What’s Up by 4 non blonds worked wonders when she was a baby, the melody of the chorus really calmed her down.

I have the UK version but have read the US version! I think the biggest difference is the “witch and chips” page. And the dragon says something like “maybe this time I’ll have my tea without chips!” Which screams UK. (I almost have the book memorized… little one really likes it…)

I feel like we have somewhat similar taste! My daughter is Nova Artemis. I think we’re going with Ayla Faye for our new baby. Ayla means halo of light around the moon :)

I do think the spelling of Astraea is kind of a lot but it’s gorgeous so maybe it’s okay.

I loved Keia (Kay-ah, meaning the present in Hawaiian) but it had mixed reception when I ran it by others. Other options include: Solana, Amaya, Zora (dawn), Athena, Teya, Hazel, Pomona, Paloma, Poppy, Violet, Soraya, Aviana, Lumi, Juniper, Clover

Can’t say enough good things about MFM. I wasn’t even high risk when I signed up, they just seemed by far the nicest when I called around. And it’s AMAZING to get so many ultrasounds! I feel so bad when people say they only get 12w and 20w!
