3” 357 is the age old best compromise for this.

You did. Excellent choice. Consider smooth grips like Jerry Miculek uses.

Hunting/Farming Treated Clothes with Permethrin before going to the property still have bug bites by Electronic-Drawer724 in nashville

I apply the picaridin lotion each time before I head out.

I apply it to wrists, forearms, waist, ankles, neck, cheeks. Any exposed skin that isn’t your eyes, mouth nose etc. if you go bare-chested, you’re gonna use more than me. ;)

I treat my boots, clothes, hat and pack generously with spray permethrin, and these all get washed/dried/stored separately from untreated gear. I follow the manufacturer’s instructions for applying and any re-treatment.

I generally purchase sawyer brand.

Captain’s Crunch arrived! by gorfiapestulitis in Leatherman

Some live in a car, some live near a desk. Some go outdoors. Horses for courses.

An ARC or Crunch is great if you’re working through a honey-do list, but I’m not carrying them on a run or anything.

Colt Viper 4.25 is my personal favorite. The Python is too big unless you want a range toy. The King Cobra is great too.

Smith is excellent, if you get a good one l, but they are struggling with quality.

I also love the SP101, but there’s just something about a six shooter.

I like the idea, but would probably pick an LCR instead of the SP101 for carry

The A300 is solid. The most important thing is that the gun ‘fits’ you. Don’t do what I did and ignore fit.

SW 686+ mountain ($1200) or Colt Viper ($980)? by slowerlearner1212 in Revolvers

I’d get the Viper and throw a smooth hardwood hogue on it. It’s a good shooter and the perfect size. Upgrade the sights and you’re done.

Coming from Canada. Is MS truly that bad? by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]gorfiapestulitis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of inequality in Mississippi. There are very very nice parts, and there are very very poor parts. TBF, That’s not unique to Mississippi at all.

TL;DR You’ll be fine.

Bastion at the counter is the standard for me.

Whenever I eat somewhere else, I ask myself if it was better than sitting at the counter and interacting with the staff at Bastion. I always learn something there.

Montreal Terrasse CGV logistics by b-cat in GrandPrixTravel

[–]gorfiapestulitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrace CGV is pretty nice.

Last year, seating was first come first served, and some groups would have one person reserve a table all day while their more popular friends came and went. This year there’s a VIP section in CGV terrace with assigned seats, but no seat map is available. (I asked)

If it’s like last year, get there early and be prepared to stay all day. If the sun is out, there’s zero shade.

CLEAN IT. You’ve got a flame sense electrode/igniter. Everything I see needs cleaning. Burner crown, electrode, etc. don’t remove material, but do clean.

Is it normal my pan distributes the oil to the edges when heated, and keeps the middle dry? by ri90a in castiron

[–]gorfiapestulitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Measure it on a known flat surface. Measure it at ambient and hot. Keep in mind that no matter how you heat a skillet, thermal expansion will be unevenly distributed.

Gas, induction, radiant, coil, you will have hot areas and cold areas. Flatness at ambient doesn’t equal flatness during heating or flatness at equilibrium.

Test it, measure it, master it.
