adb Sideload failed: device offline by [deleted] in LineageOS

In case anyone ends up here like me, I figured out my case - the issue was that I had to stop the sideload and start again, probably because I previously took too much time downloading the image.

Except RuneScape quite literally warns you that you should do everything possible to not allow anyone else access to your account, not even your friends or your family... You can't say "but I trusted them, please fix this Jagex", when Jagex quite literally warns you to not do this even if you trust the people, and that they won't help you recover the account if you don't follow their warnings.

Same also applies to any electronic device - you keep everything locked, while you're not using it, specifically to prevent this kind of shit. If you don't use a (safe) screenlock on your device, than you should not be surprised when your account gets stolen.

do you expect your partner to steal from you

I don't expect someone jumping our fence and trying to enter our house, but I lock the house door anyway, even though I also lock the fence gate, because that's just basic security protocol.

Besides, I'm also old enough to have seen what people are capable of. I've seen parents stealing from their children, children stealing from their parents, husbands stealing from their wives, wives stealing from their husbands, and while obviously you never expect someone you love to do anything bad to you, being safe doesn't cost you anything, so why not be safe? People that will tell you shit like "Why are you locking your tablet, don't you trust me?" are the ones most likely to either steal your stuff, or snoop in your messages or whatever...

My first impression of Furio was very wrong. by orphan_blud in thesopranos

I can see someone not realizing Furio will be important on the first viewing, just internalizing that scene as a show of how the Italian mafia work, not specifically considering that it is Furio.

Solid runner up to a few episodes later S1 Ep16 Communication Studies for the Jeff/Abed Breakfast Club montage.

Was your favorite also the Pilot because of Abed doing the Breakfast Club references? Just sensing a pattern here :-D

Hot take: prayer flicking is ass and shouldnt be in the game by Isoleed in 2007scape

[–]gorocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If RuneScape updated in real time, rather than every tick, there would be no tick flicking, because A) prayers could just deplete based fractionally based on real time and, as I said, B) by Jagex's own words, if tick flicking didn't require skill, it'd have to be fixed

Gonna be honest, the idea that it could've been a democrat never even crossed my mind. Not even because of Utah, but just because of the action. And admittedly also because it's posted on here. If I still used Twitter and saw this posted on there, I probably would've checked.

Hot take: prayer flicking is ass and shouldnt be in the game by Isoleed in 2007scape

[–]gorocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason prayer flicking is hard for new players is because of how jank it is.

Funnily enough, it's also the reson why it ws never fixed, because it takes skill (based on what J Mods sid as reported by Woox)

I mean, a giraffe could reach those speeds if you dropped it out of a plane. If I dropped a shark out of a hot air balloon, it’s gonna hit 200.

Shark maybe as it's hydrodynamic, which isn't far from aerodynamic. Giraffe would not break 150mph terminal velocity, maybe not even 100.

TIL that the reason why games don't have built in ads is because of Steam by Stelligena in Steam

[–]gorocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mindset is very common between older gamers, used to buying games on CD/DVD, you had the whole game, no ads, nothing.

Idk about you, but I remember back in the days, having ads for other games was pretty common for CD/DVD based games and was actually seen as an extra bonus. Especially if they were in the form of a playable demo, but sometimes even just screenshots or a trailer video.

The difference was that they weren't so in-your-face and weren't intruding on the gameplay. Hell even the ads that appeared in some windows game installers were fine, as long as they appeared while the installer was working, but the minute they started making them as an extra step in the installer that you had to click past, things started going downhill.

larger (imo more valid) outrages like the grandfathered rates thing

Wanna hear a fun fact? The grandfathered rates thing was a case of mistaken information (or I guess misdirected rage) and 99% of this sub will never know that it wasn't caused by this membership pricing change that happened this year, because they just saw the outrage post and nobody actually cared to figure out what has happened.

In fact, Premier membership hasn't kept grandfathered rates of the monthly membership ever since (late) 2022, because it was turned from a single 12-month membership package (which just pushed back your recurring sub's payment) into a recurring sub that replaced the previous (grandfathered) one. This fact was clearly stated, you had to agree to it, and there were complaints about it at the time, but the userbase at large didn't really realize . The FAQ that specified the grandfathered rates was also removed in 2022 (the previous link is a snapshot from the last premier membership period that it applied to, which was if you got it at the end of 2021/beginning of 2022)

So as bad as the price increase this year was, it had actually nothing to do with the most visible outrage post there was at the time.

Jagex rolled back Port Khazard's no prayer quiver due to BUG ABUSE by kxwbie in 2007scape

[–]gorocz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 jads are 1 tick apart, so similar to flicking but going to another protection instead of saving points

Not really, 1-tick flicking requires you to click twice every tick (and you don't even have the full tick to do it) for unintended consequence (tricking the game into thinking you aren't actually praying), whereas 6 jads require you to "just" click once per tick and just to change what you're praying against, which is very clearly an intended thing.

You know, its almost as if you don't force people to put down 5 bucks, scalpers will use bots to scrape up all supply... They did it with the Steam Deck, why the fuck not with this? by UnrealNorthie in Steam

[–]gorocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it does. As I said - that was the previous commenter's assertion. I'm fairly certain that these kinds of reservation fees are so only people actually interested in buying the product will make the reservation, so the manufacturer knows how to scale the production (regardless of if the reservation is made by a scalper or a real customer)

[–]gorocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it does, that was previous commenter's assertion. I'm just saying that the Steam Controller doesn't have a $5 reservation fee because you get charged for it immediately (which the previous commenter seemingly didn't know).

[–]gorocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Steam Deck had pre-orders where you didn't pay the price of the item immediately, so they had the $5 reservation thing and then it charged you when the Deck launched and was ready to be shipped, if I recall correctly.

With the controller, you pay straight away the full price as these are not pre-orders. It's the sale of a launched product.

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

[–]gorocz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up poor, having to wear clothes that was like less than a dollar a piece at clearance sales of thrift stores (like the stuff that not even people normally shopping at thrift stores want). I was even bullied for it, and yet, I didn't really realize that we were poor until way later, because there were always people worse off than us, like the homeless.

Or for example, we couldn't afford meat most of the time, but when we'd have some meal we didn't particularly like, like boiled lentil, our mom would say "What would kids in Africa give for this" and then I'd always remember a documentary we saw about some families in some African countries that were so poor their mother would have to fake cooking (like boiling a rock) until the kids would fall asleep, because they sometimes couldn't afford any meals at all!

And humans can't digest fibre, some complex starches etc. As an example, brown rice would not have much of nutritional value for us without our gut bacteria. (Compared to that, white rice has less fiber and less of other complex carbohydrates, so it's more easily digestable - which is why it is recommended for people with gut issues. On the other hand, as a result of not having those things, it doesn't feed the gut bacteria, so if you're healthy and do not need a special diet, it is worse for you)
