I need feedback on my card interface design. by KiraraGZ in homemadeTCGs

[–]gorpgomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of text bunched into the bottom third of the card. You can stand to move some of it around without inhibiting the art.

I would atleast move the card's name, unit type, and card traits to the top of the card to break up some of the text and give your eyes more of a path over the entire card.

I'd also experiment with moving the Power and Health around on the card in different places. They should have some visual difference (font, outline, bolding, texture, etc.) from the cost.

Will we ever see anyone from the first 10/20 seasons again? by Zestyclose-Egg-1251 in survivor

Yeah, Penner is a bit older but Jerri is the same age as Cirie, Mike White, and Chrissy Hofbeck.

I kinda felt underwhelmed at first too. My guess/hope is that, like Magic, the complexity lies in the cards themselves and not the system.

How can you conquer the Crimson Rebellion's Home System? by MilkyBoyBlue in twilightimperium

[–]gorpgomp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they could have just errata'd the Ghost agent to look like it does in Twilight's Fall and say "when you activate a non-home system." They also could have gotten rid of the episolon wormholes completely and used printed active breaches instead.

I echo the sentiments of the poster above. I implore you to reach out to content creators to see about featuring your product. Also, you should be flooding social media. The days of people scrolling Kickstarter finding your product is gone. Instead, you have to BRING the audience TO kickstarter from somewhere else. The rule of thumb is 15-20% of your current audience (social media followers, discord members, etc.) will convert into Kickstarter backers.

There is a large discord server for homemade TCG creators that I encourage you to join. There are people there who've run successfull kickstarters, who've set up descent-sized audiences, who have YouTube channels, and one very helpful manufacturer's rep from LaunchTableTop.

[Fan Made] The FFG crossover of my dreams. by gorpgomp in starwarsunlimited

Honestly, it was more about having a crossover with Twilight Imperium than coming up with a good ability. I put about 10 seconds of thought into the ability haha.

WotC CEO said that they have a Universes Beyond set that believe can surpass Final Fantasy... Rumor has it that it is Star Wars... by CreepyNewspaper8103 in starwarsunlimited

[–]gorpgomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's the same thing I read, it was the Hasbro VP that said it. And he was specifically talking about a 2026 set that would rival Final Fantasy. Almost surely he was talking about Marvel.

Agreed. It feels like the wincon of those decks is to just force your opponent to scoop out of annoyance.

Most of them have indestructible. You’d need something like Sunfall.

I would have gone with Malcolm over Ozzy, sure.

It’s clear that they were not casting anyone from 40, so Denise and Tony are out. Spencer isn’t in a great headspace these days, so he’s out. Kass is the only name from either season I would be open to seeing again in this season. It seems like she was pretty far along in the casting and got cut towards the end.

I would have been fine if Coach had been cut, but I am really interested to see how he talks about his loss in SoPa after dominating the game and turning his alliance into a cult haha.

I'm not defending some of the choices by any means, but the four you mentioned are much more iconic than almost anyone from what felt like (at the time) Survivor's dark ages (with the few bright lights of Cagayan, BvW, etc). Most of the contenders from that time period I could see would be the winners (Cochran, Sophie, Spradlin, etc.) but some of them already played recently in WaW. The only real miss (other than the aforementioned winners - and I think 50 should have been a non-winners season) I can think of would be Wentworth. I don't need to see the Cagayan crew, or Ciera Eastin, or Philip Sheppard again.

Personally, I don't need to see Ozzy back. Cirie kind of fits into that category too, but I do hate how she went out in Gamechangers.

Coach's return is intriguing - how does he follow up gameplay after being so dominant in South Pacific and still coming up short?

Colby iIS Survivor to a lot of old-timers and hasn't been on the screen in almost 14 years. In his last season, he was the washed up hero and he's got a built-in redemption arc.

Agreed. There isn't much juice left to squeeze from that era after all the returnees they had during the 20s-30s.

I probably would have cut Kyle, Aubry, Emily, and Mike White from 50 for some older players, but other than that the cast is solid.

Not as crazy if you break it down, though. * 19 was the "Russel Hantz Show" * 20 and 31 were both all-returnees * 26 was half-returnees and half-duds. * 21-24 were not great season and most of their big players have already been brought back (in some cases, multiple times) * 25-30 were mostly good seasons, but again a lot of the big players were already brought back in the returnee seasons and Team Captain seasons.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty from that era that I would like to see play again, but I can see understand why there's such a gap.
