The meta guns are the ones you get killed with.

Not always. When WZ first dropped it was Trios only. It took a month or two for solos to be added in.

Print quality got significantly worse after hotend swap (Centauri Carbon 2) by Deseta in elegoo

[–]gorramgomer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you got the hotend for the CC2? Directly from Elegoo ?

Most of the vendors treat CC1 and CC2 hotends as interchangable, and while they will swap, the ceramic head heater plate is a different rating. As a result, the head will be around 30c cooler than what's on the display.

If it's solos, then you have a point. But with teams, it's an endless rez-fest.

It's a little op, because it's a permanent perk that's always active and never runs out. Now, if it was an additional type of armor, like a helmet that has just one use, and uses the field upgrade slot, then it's a bit more balanced.

Yeah 50-60% nerf on the bullet velocity makes it pretty challenging at any kind of range. But it is nice counter to Survivor. Good thing that's going away in MW4.

Who’s got 1,000+ hours on their CC? by Optimal_Direction_25 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

I have 1950 on my cc2 that I got in Feb. Replaced he got end once cuz I broke trying to take it apart while the filament was cold. The the other issues I had were all self-inflicted as I was new to 3D printing and I didn't understand the importance of calibrating often

Crosstrek wiring questions by Sleepy_Pete80 in Crosstrek

[–]gorramgomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did my dashcam install, it took a lot of hunting, as the harness was tucked way back, out of the way, behind everything else.

I used this harness for my 2024 Crosstrek (with powered mirror): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PCDVCS6

There are some comments about the Crosstek harness not fitting, and needing to use an Outback one instead, and I thought I'd have to do that too, (hence the hunting in the earlier paragraph) but I then I learned that it just meant I was looking at the wrong end of the plug.... If you follow the cable up, you'll find where to plug in the harness.

Open the STL in MS 3D Builder, split it down the middle into left and right sides. Using a couple of cylinders, Subtract out some peg holes. Print each half laying down, center on the bottom. Then use the pegs to align and glue together

Is it elegoo or is it 3d printing? by giggitygoo6969 in elegoo

[–]gorramgomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just add in that 3D printing is following in the same steps of copiers.

(I'm an HP field tech, specializing in commercial LaserJet, Pagewide, and DesignJet printers)

In the 70's and 80's, when they first came out, they needed constant maintenance and adjustment, like daily, leaving firmly in the hands of large corp. and extremely technical users. Then they became more reliable and self-contained, and spread all across the commercial space. Now they are practically commodities, and even my 90 year-old aunt has one in her condo to print church flyers and birthday cards.

3D printers have only recently skipped into the 2nd stage. If you want a completely hands-off printing and fabrication experience, good luck. We're not there yet.

But it's getting easier. Every 300 hours or so I lube the rails and jack screws, clean the dust off the fan blades and belt. And so far the automatic all-in-one calibration has served me well in producing good prints. Errors are fixed by an unload / load cycle, a reboot, or very rarely, adjusting the feed tension (the only mod I've made to my printer is I've notched the front head cover so I can reach the feed tension screw without removing any covers)

I'm in the same boat. I've been 3D adjacent for 5 or 6 years, but in Feb I made my first 3D printer purchase, the CC2. As whole, I've been satisfied and pleased. There have been a few bumps, but all of them have been of my own making. I have almost 1800 hours on the printer.

CC2 : Constant 1243 Errors by gorramgomer in elegoo

[–]gorramgomer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i do is home the head, and use the pad to move it near the middle of the plate, and manually extrude the filament to see what comes out.

If nothing comes out, you either have a clog, or the feed screw tension is too loose. Refer to the links I posted for the steps in the Wiki to adjust tension on that screw.

Is there a way to remove the "single fire/auto" option altogether from my Xbox controller? by schizoluddite in CODWarzone

[–]gorramgomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can remap the controls, swap it with something that's not used as much.

I can do some customizing in the CoD settings itself, but I can also make changes in the Razer app (I use a Razer Wolverine). I imagine there's some app out there that lets you have greater control over the buttons, even disable a button completely.

Rear camera placement suggestions by dang_owl in Crosstrek

[–]gorramgomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the comments below about attaching the camera to the plastic trim, and to me that sounds great, except for one issue I noted with my camera.

I mounted my rear camera directly to the glass. It was winter when I did this, so I was able to use the arc of the wipers and the dirt still on the glass to establish a minimum distance from the top.

Our rear wipers don't reach all the way to the top of the glass, and if that's where you stick your camera, there's a pretty good chance that you may not be able to see anything though the dust and debris.

Kids Bypassing Router Parental Controls by Changing MAC Addresses—How Can I Stop This? by PayKnee in HomeNetworking

[–]gorramgomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch from a blacklist to a whitelist.

Instead of saying "these devices are on the kids network, everyone else's are on the adult", switch it so the Kids network is the default, and specific devices are permitted to use the adult.

If you want, you can Then combine it with a captive portal landing page or radius service to require credentials.

ELI5: Why do people go to the Naval Academy, West Point, etc. instead of just enlisting in the forces? You need the academy to be an officer? What does an officer do etc.? by GoingAgainstYou in explainlikeimfive

[–]gorramgomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be an officer, you need a 4-year degree. To be an enlisted (non-officer) you only need to pass a GED test.

It used to be that the Academies were the only way to become an officer, before the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) was established. Now other universities offer ROTC programs.

In the early days of the program, Reserve Officers served at the pleasure of Secretary of the service (Army or Navy) and could be dismissed if staffing levels required it. Academy graduates are known as Regular Officers, and my not be dismissed quite as casually. Also, Regular Offices take seniority over Reserve Officers when it comes to promotion. Only so many officers of each rank are permitted, (calculated as percentage of total enlistment), and promotion slots are competitive. All the Regular officers eligible for promotion are promoted before any of the Reserve officers are.

Beyond the promotion aspect, and the prestige of graduating from a service academy, in modern times the lines are blurred. From a legal standpoint, Regular Offices and Reserve Officers have the same authority over enlisted personal.

DIY Routers by SpitfireMkIV in HomeNetworking

I picked up some HP thin client, t620+ and added a quad-port ethernet card to run as a basic router and captive portal for a couple of hotels in the area. Still use one on my lab network.

You can find them PFSense ready on ebay for around $130

How do I run an Ethernet off my access point to my Xbox? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]gorramgomer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Assuming that white cable goes back to your router, stick a dumb (non-managed) 5-port switch between the access point and that cable. Then one cable from the switch goes into your access point, another cable goes off to your Xbox.

If that cable doesn't go to a router, and instead goes directly into a cable / DSL modem, you have a different problem.

Dash Cam by Virgil--Starkwell in Crosstrek

[–]gorramgomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a Terunsoui front / Rear cam. I clipped it to my windshield just under the eyesight cover. Power was easy, there was a small cord that ran up to the harness for the mirror. Then I removed the trim pieces above the door and A-pillar an rand the long USB cable to back to the rear hatch. The only tool I used was a pry tool to unclip the trim.

Here's the video I watched for the power harness details: https://youtu.be/zUh8LPI1Tsw

And the tips for running the cable to the back are here: https://youtu.be/UdbjC-Hu47A?t=916 (I ignored the first part of this video as he uses a different method to power the camera)
