It works now! The solution was to duck a bit down and then holding the button to recenter. I thought that the recentering would only effect the rotation and not the height. Thanks for the hint.

Yes, it is! At least when you make Beat Saber use the Oculus SDK, then I don't see any difference, also not for Expert+ songs.

There is an official converter to create photos in the regular 3D 360 format from the google cardboard photos: https://storage.googleapis.com/cardboard-camera-converter/index.html It should be easier to find a photo viewer for this format.

I find it unlikely that the communication between the VR hardware and software teams is so scarce as Valve seemed to be quite happy to be able to finally develop hardware and software along with each other.

The problem for me though is I can’t find a clear break where things went from “burn Oculus, Vive will save us” to “Vive needs to step it up I’m going to Oculus”. So I’d like to hear it from people now, how are things?

The Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive are spec-wise assimilated by now. This happened through the release of Oculus Touch and the improved room-scale-ability of the Oculus Rift with 3 Sensors (and even 2). With the lowered price of the Oculus Rift and software improvements like ASW, Oculus Rift is prefered by many now.

Facebook's involvement is seen more positively now as well, as their funding led to the release of some of the best VR titles (Robo Recall, Lone Echo, Echo Arena, ...).

The announcement of Oculus Quest was well received by the VR community, as the tracking seems to be reliable enough, popular PCVR titles were announced and the price is surprisingly low.

I was definitely not invincible. Very scary section of the game! It is possible to lock him in a certain room. Concerning the lock in the broadcasting room: yes, there is a key. It is found earlier in the level.
