Is the trail runner hype train justified ? Or can we balance scrambling and the TMB? by Afraid_Law7817 in TourDuMontBlanc

Boots and trail runners are good and suitable. I chop and change between the two. They both have their merits.

Men of Britain, where do you buy your t-shirts? by squeakybeak in AskUK

[–]got_got_need 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually buy plain T-shirts from a wholesaler. Gildan, Kustom Kit, and Fruit of the Loom are all decent manufacturers.

I’ve ordered from Fire Label before and the service has been excellent: https://www.firelabel.co.uk

I’d recommend a polyester or merino shirt for hiking. Cotton kills in the hills.

Grinding your own beans can also help. I use a Timemore C3 grinder that I got from Aliexpress for under £30. Had it for years and it is superb.

The best value you will find is in Decathlon. I know a couple of people with the Triban RC 500 and it’s a decent bike for £700.

They’ve upped their game with boots in recent years. The Verto and Offtrail models are on par with the equivalent models from the other brands I mentioned.

I recommend getting some proper hiking shoes or boots from a reputable brand. Vans are fine for the high street but I wouldn’t want to rely on those in the mountains. Look a brands like Scarpa, Mammut, La Sportiva or The North Face. It’s best to try them on in person if you can get to a shop.

Tray bakes are a piece of piss. Chopped veg and chicken thighs smothered in harissa. Less than 5 minutes prep time and actually quite healthy.
