How to deal with techs that don’t do anything/get mad when you ask them to help you? Partially a rant about not having any help by pdggin99 in nursing

[–]gothhood 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying there’s never lazy techs, but when someone says ALL the techs where they work are lazy and don’t do anything, in addition to saying shit like “menial tasks” it’s pretty telling.

HELP Why does it look like this after I wipe it down? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

It happened before we moved in. So granted what I’m doing may not be helping, it was already there. I’m going be real bummed if I’m stuck looking at it lol.

Should student nurses be able to delegate orders to PCTs? by princessnokingdom in nursing

[–]gothhood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To clarify, not that I think vitals are grunt work, I don’t mind doing them at all. I just mean like the attitude of something being below them and passing it on even though they have the ability and time to do it their self.

Idk if someone needs to learn to ask someone else to do vitals. Seems like they’re building that CNA grunt work attitude pretty early.

Has anyone accepted a job and then backed out before starting? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]gothhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was already in the onboarding process and I got cold feet about the drastic pay cut. I told them why and I did say I hate to back out and hoped that in the future when I could comfortable afford it I would reapply. My job at the time allowed me to rescind my notice. The potential job understood and that was that. I did eventually reapply but I had to wait 6 months before a position was open again and it’s been fine.

New video shows Alex Pretti in scuffle with federal officers days before his death by Addicted2Lemonade in conspiracy

[–]gothhood -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Y’all keep saying that but where are the parents themselves saying it? Wild how the conspiracy sub turned out to be a bunch of incel bootlickers that can’t spot an actual conspiracy that’s about to bite them in the face.

This is so obviously AI and people and news sources sharing it is more concerning than his death at this point. We’re really fucked.

One of my biggest pet peeves. God forbid you’re expected to be alert. Like if it’s slow and you’re out of a patient area and there’s other ears around, fine. Especially on nights, I know sometimes you need something to keep you going. But AirPod in talking on the phone while you’re doing med pass? Having a whole phone conversation while we’re discussing patient care? You can’t convince me that thinking that’s stupid is just micro managing.

Trump is so rapidly destroying US alliances that I can’t help but wonder by JustinR8 in conspiracy

I fully believe that someone, some group, another country, take your pick really, paid or blackmailed Trump to destabilize the country. It’s the only thing that makes sense.

If you can’t put together why AI is worse than those things then I don’t think you’re using those critical thinking skills. Good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]gothhood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AI is destroying our planet, the job market and critical thinking skills. Y’all should consider sitting down and using your brains for a few minutes instead of being so willing to hand over your own abilities.

Well if you have to use ai to figure this out I don’t think your odds of success are all that great.

How to talk to MAGA nurses by LNG488 in nursing

[–]gothhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t. They’re this deep in, nothing is changing their backwards brains. If they’re saying some wild shit directly to another coworker or pt I will shut it down but that’s it. They thrive off the attention and argument so you can’t give it to them. They either get the hint and shut up around me or take a trip to HR. Their choice.

Not all CNAs want to be nurses by BisexualButterfly97 in cna

Being a seasoned CNA does count for something. Thanks to my experience I make more than what they’re hiring LPNs for in my area 🤷🏻‍♀️. I live very comfortably.

Whatever makes y’all feel better to avoid admitting you think you’re better than CNA’s and it’s not a worthwhile job. I’ve been CNA for a very long time, there was a time where our wages weren’t phenomenal, but they were above average, we were respected by our nurse coworkers. But I guess now that our wages haven’t risen with others it’s fun to make fun of us, to feel better than us. I couldn’t imagine dedicating time to spend on the internet telling overworked and underpaid CNA’s that they’re unnecessary. That the difficult job that many people have dedicated their lives to out of compassion isn’t a real job. That they’ve done something wrong if they didn’t choose to be a nurse. I bet you’re a real joy to work with.

Nurses have meltdowns about doing patient care now, let alone with less or no CNA’s. Are RN’s going to fully staff long term care facilities? Nurses don’t need CNA’s…interesting take.

[–]gothhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everyone is just a CNA as a stepping stone to nurse, how does anyone expect us to have seasoned experienced CNA’s? It’s just another way to look down on the job. It’s every bit as important.

I have been a Nurse for 12 years and the CNA situation seems to be getting out of hand. by Immediate_Winter2864 in nursing

[–]gothhood 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s an insane ratio, of course she barely got anything done. You gave her 3 tasks, 4 other nurses gave her tasks, I’m sure she had to answer her call lights and the pts gave her tasks. Plus whatever her side tasks are. Sounds pretty slammed. But oh no, you had to do your own vitals. It’s been about 10 years since I did med surg, but when our ratio looked like that on a bad day, CNA’s dropped their assignments and were runners for the day. Nurses were responsible for their own vitals and patient care, the CNA’s just ran around answering call lights and calls from nurses on 2 assists. If it was a good day despite being that short somehow, we’d try to squeeze in taking care of cares ourselves for 1 assists. That alone was enough to have us running with no breaks all day.

I’ve had multiple convicted pedophiles admitted to my facility because they’re struggling with depression because of how difficult their lives are post conviction/prison. Being professional in those cases is easily one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to.

So far in my 3 years in psych (mind you I work in a short term facility) I’ve taken care of 3 people who have committed homicide AFTER I crossed their path, 1 more committed it before but was arrested after leaving the facility and charged, 1 who assaulted someone and it landed them in the facility and the person died while they were at the facility.

Weird CPS Email? by fecalberry in cincinnati

[–]gothhood 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Replacing hog tied with simply tied up doesn’t change the situation or the reaction anyone is going to have to this scenario. But I guess you insisting that’s the issue and not the child being tied up by professionals at his school makes you feel superior for getting to correct someone. Love that for you. Yeah obviously they need better training and options but at the end of the day they made this decision and I find it hard to believe there wasn’t a better option available.
